My SIL works as a manager in a sure start centre. Just saw on FB her saying that a 5 year old turned up today wearing acrylic nails with leopard print tips . Like proper professional ones. The poor tot is trying to learn how to write and has these daft nails in the way. Dont get me wrong, I might paint Caitlins toe nails when she is 3/4 if she asked or her fingernails for a party but I would never put acrylic nails on her! I think kids have so much pressure these days to be 'beautiful', some of the girls I see in school uniforms seriously look about 21 and must get up at about 6am to volumise their hair apply a litre of fake tan! I honestly dont think it was that bad even 10 years ago when I was at school.

| Snoops, that's just horrible! The poor child! What on earth is the mother thinking of??
I used to put nail varnish on Charlotte when she was little (probably about 3). But my oh is very sciency and solvents are his business and he has forbid me from putting solvent (nail varnish) on ellie as it is absorbed into the body and can be harmful. |

Eeek! I watched Toddlers and Tiaras the other day I will never put anything fake on Izzy like makeup, nails, eyelashes, tan, hair dye - they claim its a children BEAUTY contest but its all fake! At one point a little 3 year old said 'why is soandso better than me?!' 3 years old! Kids shouldnt be thinking anyone is better than them for whatever reason at that age.

Quite often she tells me storys about the kids and I think she is being a tad harsh/judgemental about the area they live in. Its probably one of the most economically deprived area's in Belfast. The kids all have shocking names, the most recent being shiyonce, not 100% sure of spelling (cross between shakira and beyonce I think). The kids often have redbull in their lunch boxes etc. Generally I can say each to their own in parenting but thats the first time iv been really shocked. It must hurt to take them off surely?

Lauren Gray had a child in her P1 class who was wearing acrylic nails! Is it any wonder children are hard to discipline when they are brought up thinking they are adults! Sad sad times!
Lauren Wilson Oh my gosh thats awful! I feel bad painting sophies toe nails, but she sees me doing it and wants it. She runs about so much I never need to remove it or anything. But I won't let her have her nails painted for school, just in the house. That's way beyond inappropriate. Very sad xo
Lauren Gray I know, they were professionally done! With different coloured lepord print on each nail. I was playing with barbies and loving childhood until I was like 12 LOL. It worries me that if children are like that now, what will they be like when I have children! xx
Lauren Wilson Oh jesus. What scares me is if you dress them like adults who else will treat them like adults. Im probably a bit ott,I won't let sophie wear a childs bikini or tops shaped like womens around their chest. They should be children for aslong as possible xo
Lauren Gray Im the same, I think bikinis on children are disgusting! We sound like old biddies but I just think children should be allowed to be children! xx
Wee Deb Mccready Not only is it so inappropriate but surely the acrylic is guna damage her wee nails when i had mine done they can be kinda sore to get off too! Next thing you know she'll be in, in false eyelashes. Theres nothing wrong with little girls playing dress up and obviously wanting to be like their mums, but jeez you've gotta draw the line somewhere!xo
Lauren Gray Yea and shes in P1, shes only learning to write! Talk about making it harder for her! Princess dresses and handbags are all good fun but some people take it too far! Shes such a naturally beautiful girl too but her behaviour is awful, obv because her mother is too busy tarting her up to teach her manners and values! xx
Lynsey Kirkwood thats scary, way too young! Like you say its only going to make things harder for her as if it isnt hard enough when your only starting school - worries me that parents let their kids grow up too soon! Your only young once, enjoy it!
Lauren Wilson Bet her mum will go nuts when she comes home with 1 broken too...xo

Just copied it to show they were professionally done, but I suppose SIL could have just assumed that.

The worlds gone mad, I paint my nieces nails and have stick pretty gems on or butterfly but they come off in minutes, but they like having them done. But I don't even have fake nails myself, poor kid, We moan our kids are growing up to quick then we see this in shops, I don't like heels on girls shoes either. Think it needs to stop to be honest

I had a kid in one of the summer camps I worked in years ago whose mother used to dye the child's hair to see what the colour would turn out like on her own hair because it was the same colour. That same parent also told the child (aged that thunderstorms were caused by her being bad and the child was absolutely terrified of thunder as a result To top it all off that parent told the camp she would be collecting the child at the end of the week directly from the camp then didn't turn up. When she was contacted to find out where she was she claimed the child should have been on the bus back to Washington DC and was less than impressed when she was told she had to collect her (it was a 3 hour drive). I made myself scarce when she arrived because I could not trust myself to speak to her after spending a week giving her little girl the love her selfish biatch of a mother didn't (this was 13 years ago and it still pisses me off when I think about it)

i went to have my nails done 5 weeks ago and the nail technician doing them was telling me how the week before a mum came in with her 2 daughters and asked for them to have acrylics. we were disgusted and even more so when she said that they were only 4 and 6 and the 4 year old was so uncomfortable and how she had to hold her finger very firmly as she wouldnt keep still but mum insisted she had them done. nail tech wasnt happy about doing them but unfortunatley there is no age limit so she had to do them. anyway, later that day i got a friend request from my cousins girlfriend. i was looking through her pictures when i came across a pic of her 2 girls showing off their acrylic nails it turns out that it was her the nail tech was talking about only that morning. the 4 year old is in ethans class at nursery and she doesnt even look 4. bless her. ill try and find her pic now xx

Omg Katie why would u want you little girls to wear them!?! Tayla loves it when i paint my nails and always wants hers done, i just pretend tho! Same with make up, i can see her being a very girly girl but theres no way i would let her wear fake nails or put make up on her! Steph, wear did u get the peel off nail varnish? Could stop her pestering me every time i do mine!
