Bleeding advice _
PostSubject: Bleeding advice   Bleeding advice EmptyMon Mar 28, 2011 3:53 am

Just a query guys

After A was born obviously was bleeding but it tailed off quite quick. Was v heaby 1st couple days then much lighter and by day 11 or so had stopped totally. Last 4 days have had no bleeding just a lot of clear discharge with maybe a bit of a reddish brown tinge to it (but very very maybe).

Anyway today was just coming home and as i got out of car felt a gush and when i got upstairs had bled heavily into undies, dark red. Have put a pad in and its slowed down a bit now

I rang midwifery to ask if it was normal and mw on phone wasnt terribly clear. She said it *might* be my period but would be odd since im so soon after awens birth and breastfeeding basically exclusively (no formula in 4 or 5 days now). She also said it might be from over exertio and to do nothing today and when my mw comes out to check my scar 2moro to mention it as ive also still got a lot of scar tenderness and pain round it.

Just wondering if anyone else has had their post natal bleeding stop then start again?

ummm i did, mine almost stopped by 6 days then pretty much clear for a couple of days and started again for just over a week (it re-started with a big clot ugggghhh) and i was told it was normal, i was exclusively bf at that point - this was before i combined fed for a bit. i didn't have a section though so it may not be comparable. By 3 weeks i had stopped bleeding (thank god Laughing)

Mine was a bit stop-start honey but nowhere near as dramatic as what you describe! I thought it was going to go on forever - it was nearly 5 weeks I think in the end.

The MW on the phone probably couldn't tell much from what you described but by tomorrow when you have your visit then they will have a better idea by knowing what has happened through the day and over night, like if it carries on or peters off for example.

Well I bled for about 8 weeks but that was mainly from the stitches and it was a vaginal birth.

I hope it is 'normal' bleeding hun, been worrying about you and that scar of yours, let me know what the midwife says xxx
