As stated in my other post my laptop is failing me
Well about a year ago, my battery decided it didn't want to hold its charge any more (i'm to tight to buy a new one)

I've been connecting it directly to the router and I hate it.

So my question, if anyone knows...I have the sky Netgear router - the black one. Can I just get any wireless adaptor for it? does anyone have any suggestions which one and where to buy?

I would call Sky and see what they suggest either that or google it and see what you can find.

You can usually use any wireless dongle with a wireless router, BUT some of them are shite!

I have had cheap ones and expensive ones before now that have been equally shoddy. The best one I had IIRC was a netgear one that was about £50

Argos is a good place, cos easy to swap and usually not a bad price
