PostSubject: I'm a bit ermmm nervous...   I'm a bit ermmm nervous... EmptyTue Mar 15, 2011 7:26 am

Ok, I know I keep going on about how I want this to be over blah blah blah, BUT I'm a bit scared. With Libby I was induced, my waters broken, everything was in control and kind of like a medical proceedure (if that makes sense). My BP has been behaving so I'm being left to my devises this time, I'm scared about my waters going, going into natural labour etc. etc.

Also, what do I do when I go into labour? Who do I ring? I must sound like a complete numpty asking these questions with already having had one but I havent got a clue I'm a bit ermmm nervous... 548646 xx

i went into natural labour and it was a bit scary at first, you need to phone the labour ward, i was told only to phone when my contractions were 3-4 mins apart.

Thanks Jo, did your waters go at home too? I'm really scared about messing the sofa/bed/carpets etc. up Laughing

I think if they dont want me to ring/go in til I'm contracting every 3-4mins I'll have to try and hide it from Simon, he's panicking that we wont get to hospital in time so any twinge he'll be rushing me there Rolling Eyes xx

I phoned the hossie when i was in REAL pain basically. If your waters go, you need to phone them straight away as there is no going back at that point. My waters didnt go at first. I started with vile backache and was very restless. I went to hosp in agony but i was only 1-2cm, they said go home and come back in a few hours. Within 2 hours, pain was awful, went back and was 4 cm so stayed there. My waters broke in the pool xx

yeah like the ladies say...if your waters go, phone your antenatal ward/unit wherever you are hoping to go - if they are a funny colour, make sure they know!

otherwise, we were told that if you were getting 3 contractions per ten minutes for a good few ten minutses (? Laughing) in a row then to phone. or if they are really really sore - i guess you will have a good idea of when things are really on the move.

my waters went at home so i was induced earlier than planned - you probably won't miss it, i remember they went in bed and woke me up, i knew what it was that second and jumped out of bed (at 37wks pregnant haha) then they spilled all over the carpet and i scampered and stood in the bath to get my thoughts together Laughing after a cup of tea and a chat with the midwife on the phone i was ok though, just ready to get going really Smile

At our hosital you either ring when waters go, you cant handle the pain anymore or they are 5 mins apart. You ring labour ward Smile

My waters went first with Andrew so needed to go in and be checked that it was my waters then was sent home until i was contracting regularly or was back for an induction the next day if no contractions started. My waters went when i was on the loo lol very convenient!

Had my waters broke with Sophie went in when I was contracting every 3-4 mins and was 7cms when i got there Smile

If simon isn't with you suse the first person I would be ringing would be him then the hospital.

Am sure it wouldn't be as bad as you think hun if you do go into natural labour, lol listen to me giving you advice when I have no knowledge myself. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for hun you will be able to handle whatever labour throws at you xxx

Hun, I didn't have a big gush of water with rich, mine trickled, thought I'd pissed myself at first, then I didn't have gush for a good few hours later, but I was constantly trickling lol

But I had to go straight in but that was 12 years ago.

Im worried in case mine go in bed, itsbrand new lol

Hehe only joking Mari, 37+6 sounds perfect to me though, would be this Monday - GREAT!! Very Happy

Aw thanks D, it's weird because I had been excited up to now but the more I think about it and how little I actually know about 'natural' (spontaneous) labour the more scared/nervous I get.

Clare, I am abit worried that mine will trickle, and if I actually realise they're my waters.

Thanks ladies xxx

Hun try not to be nervous. I have had a natural labour (Thomas) and an induced one (Hannah) and I have to say the natural/spontaneous one was a MUCH more pleasant experience.

I know with an induction you kind of know what and when things will happen/start to happen etc and you have a sort of schedule to your labour BUT in reality you are not in control of that - the midwives are and for me that felt unnatural and a bit scary. With a spontaneous labour YOUR body is in control and for me it was a lot more relaxed and less stressful. Yes when you feel those first twinges its a weird/scary/exciting/panicky experience but you will have enough time to sort yourself out and get to hospital. I think you just 'know' when you should ring tbh and if it is reasuring for you just ring them as soon as you start so they know to expect you even if youre not ready to go in. Nobody will tell you off for ringing up hun.

Honestly, don't worry - you'll be fine!
Ooooooh so excited for you bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce

xx

Keep those vibes coming Lise, hopefully they'll work! Very Happy

Thanks Debs, I think it's the not being in control thats scaring me most - even if last time the midwives/doctors were in control, at least someone was.
