anyone tried soy milk for eczema? _
PostSubject: anyone tried soy milk for eczema?   anyone tried soy milk for eczema? EmptyTue Mar 29, 2011 7:33 am

Matthew had a bug a week or so ago and didn't have any dairy for 6 days and his eczema cleared up compleatly. I've been to the dr's before but they don't seem to want to investigate in to the causes of it stating it's childhood and he'll grow out of it. So i thought i'd try changing his milk to soya milk as alpro do a 1 year plus one to see if this helps.
Has anyone else tried this? if so what responce did you get?
cheers claire x

Caitlin had a severe milk allergy and was dairy free until she was about 15months when we slowly started introducing dairy in the form of yoghurt's, cheese, choccy etc.

If you think a dairy free diet would help (Caitlin prone to eczema too and too much dairy is a recognised trigger by dr's and something we watched for when re introducing it) then I would say go for it. A dairy free diet can be very healthy. That alpro 1 + was recommended to us by dietician as Caitlin still cant have cows milk as a drink, we havent tried it however as our local tesco doesnt sell it. We still use prescription formula, or tbh none at all atm as she has stopped btls.

If you want to cut out dairy completely, or reduce it a bit more alpro soya yoghurt's are good, you can also get Pure spread which is soya or sunflower oil based. Tbh milk is in so many foods once you check labels you will be surprised (pancakes, biscuits, sauces etc). Perhaps just switching milk will make the difference but just incase it doesnt maybe think of other dietary swaps you could do. Hope it works. Feel free to pm me anytime! x

Cow's milk aggrivates MJ's excema and I've found by giving her soya milk instead it has helped so much. She still gets random break outs (stress, heat etc...) but the massive patch on her back has gone since I've switched milks. I've found if she eaten too much dairy stuff she starts getting itchy patches again. MJ actually prefers soya milk, I can understand why so many people have reactions to milk after all cow's milk is designed for cow babies not people and lactose is difficult to digest. Xx
