I don't get it - does the child just sit on it, no straps? (In the Mothercare picture it looks like there's some sort of harness, but you don't see that on the pic of just the thing itself).

i spose it just helps you support them, like me heaving elijah around and having to jiggle him back up as he slithers down

Yeah its like a shelf they sit on, you still have to put your arm round em but it saves them sliding down your hip and having to shuffle em back up so less strain o your back
