had my first scan today and the dr said there is an abrasion around the egg sack - a bit of blood (I suppose where the placenta would be) he's given me progesterone tablets and pessiary to "help" the pregnancy... anyone know what this is.. im so worried now

I can't even find anything on the dreaded google about it lol I think its maybe where the egg has started to come away? or I've knocked it... injured my pip
he didn't say it was going to end badly, he told me to go back in 10 days and just to be really careful and take this progesterone stuff... so... can't be THAT bad... wanted to get all excited too but gonna have to wait a little

Firstly you havent knocked it or injured your pip. They are so low down its impossible at this stage so dont worry about that or blame yourself!

I googled too and couldnt find anything about egg abrasion, however if you google prescribing progesterone in pg there is some info. Some studies have shown that women who have underlying risk factors or had recurrent miscarriages have gone on to have a healthy pg when progesterone has been prescribed. However not all dr's prescribe it as some feel its not researched enough/have proven results. There is no harm in taking this supplement as it naturally occurs during pg, again however some dr's are over cautious and dont want to interfere.

Maybe in cyprus its more common to prescribe it. Please try not to worry hun, but I know you prob will. You are doing everything you can xxx

I'm ok thanks feeling really sick (which I suppose is a good thing) had some dull crampyness but so far so good!
I'm not so worried now as what will be will be and liek you said I can't do any more so just got to wait and see!
