Not that i'm cheating on you lovely ladies but seen as i've moved and know no one around here I decided to check out netmums website and see if i could find some mums in this area to talk to. I put a message in the meet a mum board and replied to a few others but it's been a over a week now and i've heard nothing back. How unfriendly, I'd only heard good things about netmums so thought it would be really friendly. Just sort of added to my bad week/few weeks, I feel so isolated in the new house. I know I need to go to some baby groups and i'll meet people there but my confidence has just fit rock bottom atm and tbh I spend most days sitting at home feeling crap and crying.

Aww hun sorry you feel so low, try not to be to upset about no one replying I also put a post up on netmums and it took a little while for anything to come through. It all depends how busy your area is. Mine doesn't get used as much as some.
I know I'm not exactly on the door step to you but we could meet up. Do you drive?

It must be very difficult having moved and starting all over again. Have you found a sure start centre there yet? Might be a good place to register at if you can!

Yeah i think it's just not a busy board like some. Normally I don't think i'd care, but i think it's annoyed me more cause i'm already feeling low.
Where abouts are you exactly? i do drive.
I've been to sure start but atm they're workingout a tiny room in the clinic and are in the process of moving so werent much help. I'm hoping they'll be better once they're moved and have proper offices.

maybe go to the ante-natal classes when u reach that stage see if there is a local on running. You will meet lots of ladies maybe in the same position as you.

I'm in Stevenage in Hertfordshire, but the Bedfordshire border is about 15miles from me. We could look at somewhere in the middle if you want to.

No it would be great to meet, maybe we can see if there's a soft play place roughly in the middle. I'll google and get back to you

I have had no joy with netmums either if honest, I went on when I was preg with lillie. I didnt like it.

I didnt get any luck there either - I replied to a few people, a one said they didnt have a car and would like to meet friends that did so they could go on day trips together - so replied and she never even sent a reply back!

I didnt get a reply either so dont worry! I sent 2 dif mums messages and neither replied. I also posted an ad and no one responded - I did delete it after a week though as got peed off & felt a bit embarrassed for some reason.

Its quite easy to take these things personally (especially as I went on netmums at a time I was feeling quite low anyway & was trying to do something proactive), I just kept telling myself that maybe the other women had placed the ads on a whim, or had lost their confidence.

I know loads of stuff going on in Hitchin but you're unlikely to meet anyone else from as far away as Flitwick over here, for example at the playgroup I was at this morning most people walk into town to get there. Surestart centre activities are also a great way of meeting people, plus they may be able to tell you about other playgroups. Netmums has listings of local playgroups too, and maybe there's an NCT bump and baby group or open house? (I tried to look but it wanted me to register as being in mid-Beds which I'm not.)

I'm sure you'll meet someone soon. I've just met someone who moved here from London 4 weeks ago with a 4 month old and she's been going to a couple of children's centres.

For softplay between Stevenage and Flitwick you could try Space2Play in Hitchin (big, on industrial estate) http://www.space2play.biz/about-us.html - I wouldn't recommend it when school age kids are there, though that goes for any soft play really. Little Rascals in Hitchin town centre is disappointing in size (though it has the advantage that I can cope on my own with both kids in there).

Thanks Ros! I'm thinking the area must not be a very busy one on netmums and there was barely anything written in the toddler groups section. I'll deffinitely check out that soft play centre. and I must just force myself to get to some toddler groups, i've got info on one that looks good so will try and get myself there.

Shell I am not a million miles away either in Cambridgeshire so could meet up too. I am restricted to weekends though thanks to work.
