Had spent weeks being traipsed back and forwards to DAU havig had high bp and protein radings at home/with my own midwife. Would get to DAU and they would dip my wee as negative and tell me high bloods and high bp and symptoms were not enough to act on i finally went for my pre op assessment at 37+4 on DAU and at the same time they did a monitoring, took some bloods and did a urine dip and this time decided i had protein in my wee. So i was sent home with a jug to pee in for a 24 hour test and had to go back the following day.
Next day i woke up and my appt was at 3 so decided to walk with Cto the local shop. Usually its a 2 minute walk maximum but as the swelling in my legs was now up to my thighs and i also had swelling on bump i took 15 mins to walk the same trip so a 10 min shopping trip took me 45 mins and i had to stop twice in that time due to shortness of breath and pain.
Needless to say by the time i got to DAU i was pretty fed up and the midwife who booked me in said my bloods had shot right up so i needed a monitoring and bp check. As they put me on the monitor she was chatting to me as she knew me from my preg with caelyn as had been back and forth to DAU then as well and she said i looked fed up and i said i was and she said no i looked really fed up. At this point i pretty much lost it and ended up bawling my eyes out to her about how i was feeling. She was pretty shocked as through my entire pregnancy with C and A had never to that point seen me being anything but joking and smiling. So she got the doc round to review me (after ordering him to be nice lol). He noted my bloods, bp and protei and asked if i had any symptoms and i laughed at him and said id been telling everyone for weeks i was nauseous, had headaches, visual disturbances, upper bump pain, leg swelling up to my hips and bump (havig gained a stone in 3/4 weeks) and shortness of breath. He looked quite surprised as most had been brushing this off and not documenting much and said with my symptoms, bp and protein and given my history he didnt think they should hang about any longer asi obviously had pre eclampsia again and should deliver Awen by the following day.
I have to admit i didnt actually hear that bit at 1st as i was so used to being given the brush off by then i translated it in my head to 'we are gonna send you home' so it wasnt til he repeated himself and asked if i was ok with that it sunk in.
Anyway they admitted me to the ward and decided i could wait til following morning, my sister looked after c til neil finished work and he went to the office to rearrange his holiday and PL to start immeidately. I was basically left to my own devices overnight -bp was checked once
Next morning Mum had c and neil came up early to ward so i could get ready to go to theatre. Was nice to walk round feeling normal unlike last time. Neil went and put his scrubs on then they dragged him off to somewhere while i went into the theatre. Everyone introduced themselves then they put the spinal in. Took a lot of faffing as i think it was off centre cos kept getting pain in left side of back but they sortedit in end and started the spinal off. Like last time i reactd to the drugs but the anaesthetist was pretty on th ball and everytime i started to get the nausea and the room started moving i just said and she gav me something to counteract it. Once i was laid down it all happened quite quick, they pulled her out and she gave an almighty bellow then started screaming the place down as pissed off as ive ever heard a tiny person. While they checked her over they got back in and did the sterilisation. Was able to spend the whole time they were in there ust holding her with help from neil and talking to her.
ONce done they took me back to delivery and got me back to the ward fairly quick. Id been determined i was going home the following day so i was out of bed by 6 having had her at 1034am and overnight was walking out to loo on my own. Unfortunately i paid for it next day as no one had told me 2nd sections are meant to be more painful as are sections with sterilisations so i spent a lot of following day havig oral morphine for pain as it wasnt controlled by paracetamol and diclofenac or codeine as id gotten up a bit quick (even the ward sister looked shocked id gotten up 8 hours later).
By the following day though, the monday i was still sore but only on paracetamol and diclofenac so they let me go home. MW came out for 1st 12 days to check my bp and awens jaundice which cleared up nicely and my bp dropped back nicely. Scars still quite tender at the sides and ive had a lot of pain round it and in belly but mw says its cos im not too good at just sitting down and chilling out so its getting there slowly. Otherwise i feel great, feedings going well and shes such a chilled content baby shes a total joy. She was 6-5 born went down to 5-11 but monday gone was 6-10 at 16 days so all is great.
So nice to have a reliatively positive experience this time to post about after the horribleness of caelyns birth. Congrats on reading all the ramble x
