| It's awful, so sad and scary for all those people who are still living in shelters, or trying to rebuild their homes, find their relatives, having to go through this again. There was apparently some damage to buildings and people injured but nowhere near as bad as the last one, thank goodness. Luckily the tsunami warning came to nothing, but I can't imagine how scared they must have been They've been having about 3 aftershocks a day since the big earthquake last month, they're usually about level 3 or 4, but this one was more like 6 or 7. Must have been terrifying. The official line is that it hasn't done any more damage to the already damaged nuclear power plant (thats still broken, and leaking radioactive water into the sea now they seem to be trying so hard to fix it but nothing is working. ) but it's knocked out power to one further up the coast. We're all ok down here, but feel very lucky we're able to come home. |
