ummmm a bit of both really, but i fully admit to being a paranoid parent eli generally has baby food a lot of the time supplemented with a bit of what we have - so often it is jars, or a bit of baby cereal, with normal yogurt/fruit/baby fruit pot (organix ones), little cheese sandwich or toast, bit of an omlette or some pieces of pasta to play with. snacks are things like rice cakes and organix snacks cos i don't want him eating all the salt in quavers! cereal he chops and changes, often has some milky bran flakes out of my bowl and sometimes weetabix but he's a bit off cereal just now so more often yogurt i just feel we eat too much salt/spicy stuff to give him that much of what we eat

I have just started giving him some real food. We have tried scrambled egg and toast, chicken, peas & sweetcorn, fish fingers, cheese etc. He is doing better than I expected I don't think H ate much real food till he was 1 x

generally i just look at what we are eating (or he tries to steal it) and decide if it isn't too lumpy or spicy he can have a bit. he loves lumps of cheese, egg, bread bread bread banana umm pasta yep stuff like that chicken is a good idea, might try that. there is a baby led weaning post too i think in the weaning section which has some good 'real' food ideas

Hannah eats what we/Thomas eats and has done since 8 months coz she decided she didn't want to eat off a spoon any more (what is it with my kids and spoons?) She hasn't had baby food for 2 months because it was too much of a drama trying to get it in her so she has proper food. Thomas was a bit slower taking to proper food and I thought it was because of lack of teeth but Hannah only has 5 and she manages fine. She is just one hungry little monkey She does still take yoghurt/jelly off a spoon but anything else is hands in, gets v messy! xx

Alfie eats everything and anything now!! Hes going through a stage of wanting to completely eat 100% everything himself so its not good givbing him anything off a spoon. Hes been with his dad the past couple of days so hasnt eaten very well but he will generally have: Breakfast - toast/crumpets/weetabix with banana/fruit and yoghurt/scrambled egg Dinner - beans on toast, sandwiches, tuna pasta, omlettes, Tea - fish fingers/fish cakes/ with vegetables and potatoes/sunday roast/lasagne/curry He will basically eat anything. He loves grapes and raisins atm and has decided that eh doesnt like strawberries. Tbh I was quite scared of giving him proper food until I seen him having his tea at nursery and he was happily sitting swinging his legs sitting at the table chomping on some pizza and veg! x

If I had it my way Niamh would be a completely compitant self feeder like her bro was at 11 months, he was fully baby led weand and ate whatever we ate, with a fork. Because Niamh was diagnosed with her cows milk allergy 2 weeks after we started weaning I had to give in and spoon feed her because she wasn't gaining weight. I still let her have what she could have off my plate right from the start and now she eats what we eat and I occasionally chop some up and spoon feed her if I feel that she's not eaten enough herself, probably a bit nurotic, but she weighed 18lb1 today, at 50 weeks so I need to make sure she gets all her calories!
