Ive got a really chesty mucus cough. Can anyone recommend a medicine that actually works xx

Is there such a thing as a cough medicine that actually works? I don't know what they used to put in them because I'm sure they used to be good but like Mari says they seem to have taken the good stuff out - wonder what it was?

I've only ever bought of the shelf or over the counter though so maybe if you see the doc he can prescribe something that actually works?

I like covonia and buttercup syrup just coz they taste nice but can't say they have helped me much the last few times i've had a bad cough other than maybe for 2-3 minutes relief as they go down

no u want to steam inhale Mayb with a drop or 2 of eucalitpus (sp) to losen it up so u can cough it all up hun thats the best thing 4 a real chesty cough U need to "get it off your chest" ! XX hope it clears up soon XX

haha i think the good stuff was codeine actually, we used to drink it

I find Meltus quite good. It doesnt completly take your cough away (in some ways I dont think it should as generally you are coughing for a reason eg lossening flem/ getting rid of gunk)

I usually took it before bed and it gave me enough relief to be able to get over to sleep. It doesnt taste that bad either. x

well ive been to asda and bought Benilyn Mucus cough, we will see if it works

can use vicks or similar or olbas oil for inhaling steam too
