Ollie is 18 months on the 28th and I am really starting to worry now!! All he says is gone, ball and no.

No mummy, daddy, more, thank you, please etc?!

The 3 words he does say aren't 'permanent' words, they pop up every now and again like gone hasn't been said in a few weeks now, no is only repeated back if we've told him no and ball is said once when he spots one.

Is this 'normal' or do I need to start speaking to drs, hvs etc??

I think its normal, and quite common in boys to be alot later in speech sometimes...then all of a sudden they start to say loads!

I dont think you need to be worried!

I really hope so Sad He's not stupid in the slightest (unfortunately!) he's very far from it - he just can't talk! He never shuts up talking in Ollie language but he has started getting very frustrated now when he wants something but we don't know what :S

evans the same hun he is really clever! but he knows how to show us what he wants or tell us what he wants us to know which is why i think its not frustrating him that he cant speak because he is communicating thru sign kinda thing and by taking us to the stuff he wants which is another reason why id rather he was seen now instead of later cos he needs to learn to talk rather than show us

Ollie doesn't seem to know how to show us, he just expects us to understand him and if we don't he starts throwing a wobbler but you can see that it is pure frustration. I've offered him my hand so he can take me to show me what he wants but he doesn't understand.

Ellie (and my other two) is a slow talker. She seems to have come on a bit this last month with a few new words.

Please don't worry about it, he'll be fine Smile xx

Wil's language erupted at about 20 months.

At 18 months it was just odd words here and there and he would latch on to certain words for a while then they would disappear.

Only in the last month or so has he really started talking in understandable sentences and naming objects correctly

Aimee was the same. We had a few words at 18 months but not many. By 20 months she knew all of her numbers 1 to 10 but still didn't talk loads.

Now I can't shut her up for talking!! Smile xx

Oscar was the same, at 20 months he had about 6 or 7 regular words, then all of a sudden he just exploded in to speaking 3 or 4 word sentences by the time he had his 2nd birthday and he talks so much now he litterally doesn't shut up, even in his sleep lol!

I certainly wouldn't worry untill he's 2, and you'll have you hv reveiw then so just tell them if your still worried xx
