Buying a Car _
PostSubject: Buying a Car   Buying a Car EmptySat Jun 04, 2011 2:24 am

We need to replace our car as we need something that will fit 3 car seats.

As we hadnt planned on this baby, we hadnt really put any money away for a new car, so the plan is to sell mine and get another one for roughly the same price.

So, the question is, do you barter when buying a car, or just pay the asking price? If you try to knock down the price, how much by?

I always barter on used cars, I've just bought a Renault scenic and it was up for £2495 and we paid £2100 for it, also when I've sold cars I always add a few hundred on knowing it will get knocked down. I always check the parkers guide when I see a car I like and see what the recommended value is

Never pay the first price they offer. Knock them down by at least 10% - it is a buyer's market for cars at the moment.

The other option is part exchange yours with the garage you buy your new one from.

I think I will drag my dad along who can help me get a good price then as I will be useless at trying to get them down.

Deff barter. As said they prob put a few hundred on anyway. Try and get car tax/ mot/ service as well. Check Parkers as well. Tell them you've seen cheaper elsewhere and they will knock money off x
