So Kyle's 18 months old now, and I can't say this is a "new" thing of his. But for a while now he won't come near me unless he wants something, i.e food, drink or he's unwell or whatever. And if he doesn't want anything, and someone is holding him, if I ask if he's coming to me he starts screaming and clinging onto the person holding him.

I have no idea why he's like this and it's really starting to get to me, I've never smacked him, hand or otherwise, I rarely tell him off unless he's bein super naughty (I jus ignore minor sillyness) .. I give him lots of kisses and cuddles (most of which are not welcomed), so what am I doing wrong ?

I don't understand, why does my baby hate me ?

He's been like this for as long as I can remember, always I think. Now I feel myself getting a bit upset when he gives his dad cuddles, which happens like.. all the time. I know that's wrong, he's just a daddy's boy but it's been known for him to claw my face to get away from me, to his dad.

Awwww I wouldnt worry too much, just sounds to me like he's very independant. Cerys was like this for a while and it was just a phase. It is upsetting though, I understand xx

Chloe was always a daddy's girl, I would do if it was just me and her, but if Daddy was around then I may as well have been invisible, then it just changed and she's the complete opposite, full of cuddles and kisses, she always comes to me etc. I think they go through stages, she was a daddy's girl until about 2 months ago. Just keep doing what you're doing, I'm sure he loves you to bits, I do think they just take their mum's for granted at his age x

I wouldnt worry. You say he comes to you when he is feeling poorly, that speaks volumes. He obviously loves his mummy and wants you when he is unwell (we all go to our closest when we are unwell), so try not to take it too personally.

Laura is right. Caelyn went through a phase of it too only being quite verbal she would also shout 'dont want mummy dont like mummy'. Upset me a lot but i totally ignored it and just made an effort to keep saying i love you and making sure i played lots with her and esp let her see me being silly-chasing her with a feather duster etc and shes fine now, if anything im current flavour of the month. Even at her worst when ill or hurt only i would do and it does speak volumes

I was going to say what Laura said. The fact it's you he wants when he's unwell says it all! Does your OH work? Cause if he does and Kyle's with you all day then it may just be because he sees you all day so when daddy's home it's someone different to play with?x
