My dads mums sister had twins, and my mums dads sister has had 2 sets of twins whats my chances do u reckon !!!! and is there such a thing as insuance against twin births if so any idea how does it work

Here's one to make you laugh Tara......... My dad was one of 12 chidren and within this there was 3 sets of twins......my dad had a twin sister, he had a set of twin brothers and a set of twin brother and sister. My dad's twin had twin daughters and my dad's cousin had twins!! So twins are definately in my family, so as you can imagine I was holding my breath when I had my first scan!!

I'm sure there is twin insurance out there, or at least there used to be, but with private scans etc now I suppose it's quite easy to find out from the off! So maybe not!

What kind of twins were they. I think its only non identical that runs in families and I think it only runs down the female line but I could be wrong. You can still get twin insurance but you have to get it quite early on.

Not sure how much premiums are - and also how they wouldnt know you'd had a private scan? Google 'twin insurance uk' for more sites that offer it.

Zee twin insurance is something you take out either before you are pg or in 1st 8-10 weeks of pregnancy. You pay maybe £100-£200 and then if its twins they pay you £1000+. If its just one baby you lose the £100-£200 premium you paid at start. Its a way of getting extra money to help with extra costs of twins.

Yup gambling is a good way to sum it up.

I think if you m/c one they wouldnt pay out. Its to do with the cost of rearing two babies, not winning the bet so to speak. I dont think they pay out until after birth. Quite alot of pregnancies start as twins and one m/c's early and is reabsorbed before the 12 week scan so most of us are oblivious to it - you could have a sneaky early scan at 6 weeks, get the insurance and then find sadly at 12 week scan there was only one bean after all.

Suppose like anything, if you have the money to spare and its what you want to do then why not. Not something I would do but. If id £100 Id spend it on a sexing scan at 18 weeks as my shitty hospital wont tell me lol!
