| Ollie has not been himself for 3/4 weeks now. He is waking in the night every night which is very unusual as he normally sleeps straight through. When he's up in the night he is passing wind like there's no tomorrow and sometimes in the day he starts crying for no reason and seems to be trying to double up in pain. Tonight he has only gone to sleep because I was massaging his tummy. Something inside me is shouting 'tummy problem!!' but I don't understand what it could be to have lasted so long other than something that he's having every day disagreeing with him ie milk. He has been filling his nappy approx 3 times a day when he's normally a one a day dude. Any clue what he could be?? |

| It certainly could be a milk intollerance hun. I took Amelia to the GP a few weeks ago and she said it's quite common for them to develope one around this age. Maybe try cutting it all out for a couple of weeks and see if there's any improvement. That was what they suggested to me but I'd deffo pop him to the docs too. Has he got more molar's coming through too? x |

| I would do hun but I'd speak to your GP 1st. This is the advice Snoopy gave me on my FB page; - Quote :
- You can use ordinary soya milk as source of calcium but its lower in fat, so prob best to go for 1+ if you can. The apro soya yoghurt's are nice too, Caitlin loved them when weaning. You can get soya butter in most supermarkets, its called Pure. Id see how soya alternatives go. On the alpro soya site it gives you nutritional info of their products. I think toddlers should be getting about 500mg of calcium a day & a soya yoghurt is about 150mg so not too hard to achieve. Brocolli is good too, as is tofu and baked beans. Some orange juices are fortified with calcium. Tbh my dietician didnt mention calcium much - just promoted the soya alternatives so it must be a good enough source. Other examples I found = 100g of salmon provides half your daily intake of calcium (300mg), an orange is 35mg, a slice of bread 30 mg... Vitamin D is also important to help absorb all the calcium, this is found mainly in sunlight and fortified cereals, oily fish and eggs. Sorry for waffling. I should really have done a PM with paragraphs if I knew it was going to take so long! If iv missed something/been unclear let me know! This has made me question Caitlins calcium atm as she off her formula. I might try the soya milk this week too x

if you are testing for lactose intolerance it would be advised to cut out all milk sources eg milk as a drink, yoghurts, cheese, butter, cream... even some breads eg pancakes, some biscuits/crackers have milk as an ingredient, some crisps, battered product She also recommended this; http://www.alprosoya.co.uk/soya-products/juniormilk.html?no_cache=1 HTH x |

| Iv nothing much to add Caitlins a bit different as she has the allergy, treatment similar but. Im not sure about symptoms of the intolerance but it does sound like cutting out milk products for a bit to test the theory is a good idea. x |
