L isn't interested either, he just opens his mouth for the spoon or he uses his hands.

elijah has had cutlery for quite a while now - you know like the slightly blunted forks and knives and spoons. he will use them quite well but if hes really hungry or its something that just won't stay on a fork (spaghetti!) or ummm he just doesnt feel like it he still uses his hands...or if we are in a rush i feed him.

he has had spoons for umm probably since christmas because he would refuse to eat and just spend all of his time trying to grab the spoon so i give him two - he likes something in both hands!!! the oxo ones are nice, expensive but a good shape and sturdy.

that's alright! he will eventually get bored of that and realise what an amazing little shovel it makes, and then realise that he can shovel things into his mouth at his own speed.....can't promise how long it will take and i would recommend getting a mat for the floor!!!

Hannah has had her own spoon for about 4 months now at every meal because she started refusing to be spoon fed and this was the only way round it - to let her 'help'. Tbh she is always given a spoon and a fork at each meal like her brother and she can use a fork pretty well now if its something chunky that sticks on easily.

She is brilliant with a spoon with thick soup and thick fomage frais etc but she hasn't mastered the art of holding the bowl with the other hand so ends up chasing it round her tray. If I hold her yoghurt pot she can get all the middle bit herself and I just do the last bits round the edges.

It took Thomas a lot lot longer and I think it's because she idolises him and tries to copy everything he does and has been like that from a very young age. She gets very frustrated that she cant keep up with him at times and I think that has really helped her development.

xx

Stephen can do it with some things where it sticks to the fork/spoon easy like his weetabix but I find the extreme mess difficult so it makes it hard to let him just get on with it! I just started giving him his own spoon whilst I fed him so he had one in his hand and then when he started showing in an interest in it, I put a bit of food on it for him and he'd put it to his mouth (or hair/eye/ear etc. Rolling Eyes ) He likes just using his fingers mostly though xx
