Well thought I'd post my birth story.

As some of you know I'd posted about my contractions. I'd had them on and off starting and stopping since the Weds before. Anyway Tuesday :it was the same, lower back ache and period type cramps. I was getting stomach tightenings on and off all day but nothing was regular.

It got to 4:30pm and I noticed that they were more regular so started to time them. they were around 5-6 mins apart and lasting 50-55 seconds a time. My lap top then died and Trev got home at 5:30pm so i was then off line.

I kept getting the tightenings but then the period pain got stronger with each one. I then started timing them again on my phone and noticed they where 3 minutes apart. at this point i was still walking about between them. Trev then decided to have a bath at 6:30pm i think it was then all of a sudden they were every 1.5 minutes apart so my mum told trev to get out the bath whilst i rang the hospital. they told me to come straight in. at 7pm (i think) we left for the hospital and my god that was the worst car journey ever. contracting at every 1-1.5 minutes and in a moving vehicle was horrible.

We parked in the hospital car park and i had 6 contractions before i even got into the delivery ward (one was outside the doors)

My notes say i arrived at 19:30, the first thing i thought when i went in the room was where is the bed. it was a room with floor mats, two very large bean bag type bed things and two birthing balls. i sat on a bean bag on my left side was given the gas and air and basically bit down on the mouth piece.

The midwifes were brilliant. they got my bottoms off and shoes and socks. they did try to examine me but there was not enough time between contractions to let them. she then said just listen to your body. i then felt i needed to push. I pushed and my waters broke i pushed again then was told to pant, head was out, then told to push again shoulders out then one last push and she was out. she was placed straight on me and trev got to cut the cord this time as with rowan he didnt.

When they put her on me the midwife went wow what a big boy. to which i replied can you check please. she checked and said no its a girl and a very big girl.

She came out very very puffed up and blue, which they told me was because she came so quick. trev had to hold her after though as my body went into a bit of shock and i couldnt hold my head up and was just trying to concentrate.

I had a second degree tear and had to have some muscle stitched too

She fed for the first time at 9:10pm for 15 minutes. then again at 12:10am. We left the hospital at 12:40am nearly 5 hours after having her.

She weighed in at a hefty 9lb 12 & a half oz.

She's amazing, Rowan's reaction to her and his face that morning where more then I could ever have imagined. he is delighted with her.

Aww, that sounds amazing and so quick!! Sounds like you had brilliant timing, so you got to the hospital with no hanging around. Can't believe how big she was, and her photos are absolutely gorgeous, you must be so proud!!

I'm terrified now, I'm next on the Banda list aren't i! Eek!

Ok this has taught me that once contractions are 5 min apart - go to hospital! I want time for drugs

You sound like you did brilliant and it must have been amazing Rowans reaction. he really does looked so chuffed in the pics. She is adorable.
