a bought a new car seat about 2 months ago and sent of the reciept to the insurance to claim on it( for the accident, i was lending one till then) they never returned the reciept and i didnt really think anything of it...now the clip on the car seat is being really temperamental latley and just decide's ot doesnt want to fasten sometimes...i have borrowed a friends as i refuse to take him in it cos sometimes if you pull on it really hard it comes back open...so do you think they will let me return it, or what shall i do i havent had it long, its bloody dangerous and im quite fuming tbh!!!! i got it from halfords!! x

if it's faulty you are entitled to a replacement. Dont know how you can prove you bought it from them though without a receipt you might've looted it

Did you buy it with a bank card or cash?



If you used a card, get your statement out and let them find the transaction xx

yeah i did, stuck it up my hoodie...but its ok cos i was wearing glasses and a balaclava

If its faulty it shouldn't matter because its the manufacturer at fault and they'll just send it back to them

i got an outfit for lucas from tesco in the sale ages ago, went to put it on him today and found the security tag still attached... it didnt go off when we went out of shop, and i got no reciept, so just going to try and see if i can take it back, because we cant get the thing off

Even if its faulty you still should have a receipt to get an exchange. I think legally they can still refuse to do anything without one as you have no proof you bought it from them. It can be a lot of hassle, especially with small retailers to claim things back off manufacturers and they would prefer not to have to bother.

In saying that large companies who still stock the item are genrally quite obliging so you should be ok. I worked for a family company selling kitchen products and felt awful turning ppl away with faulty toasters etc... some complained and threatened to write to trading standards but the owner would just tell them to go ahead as legally he was within his rights to say no.

I would give them a call hun save you traipsing down there and see what they say. or look throuh your bank statement - if you paid by card then it'll be on there.

The store would have a record of the sale, if you know the date you bought it and approx time they can look it up! We used to do 'transaction searches' all the time at goldsmiths - call the store, explain situation - as long as your calm and friendly they should help good luck
