| the only thing that helped for me was gaviscon advance (the prescription stuff), take it every 2 hours regardless of wether you are having heartburn or not and it should keep it at bay - i remember thinking i was having a heart attack one night it was so painful in my back and chest!
i didn't want to take anything stronger but i know there are a few things you can get from your gp other than gaviscon advance, if you feel you need more |

| Same as Mari only the prescription gaviscon worked for me. I used to get a huge bottle everytime I saw midwife. Also drinking milk a lot throughout the day
Hope you can find something that works for you, heartburn is awful |

| I haven't tried the advance stuff, will the mw be able to give me a prescription for that or will I need to see a doctor? I've got my next mw appointment on Monday so hopefully I'll be able to get something then. Did your babies both have full heads of hair? Just wondering if it's true about heartburn being a sign of having a hairy baby! Thanks ladies xxx |

| RANITIDINE!!!! Its AMAZING! I have heartburn so bad when pg, its awful! With Caitlin I got it on prescription - you take 1-2 tablets morning and night. You can get it in Tesco without prescription, zantac I think is the brand name but basic tesco ranitidine is half the price. Honestly its like a miracle. Maybe check with GP 1st, it is safe to take in pg but it says to consult GP. I didnt this time as I had taken it before. Suppose going to GP is best as you get it for free that way too x |

| haha elijah did have a full head of hair.....and because he was a bit early he also was still covered in fur and my heartburn was absolutely vile!
it seemed to depend on your midwife for me, but i did just phone the surgery and request a prescription for it even though i didn't have it on repeat and they sent it through as it isn't really controlled i wouldn't have thought (several doctors and midwives told me you can't actually overdose on it, although i did try haha)
failing that maybe snoops is right, i wasn't keen on trying other stuff but if its as bad next time i definitely will! |
