| Awens driving me bonkers. Caelyn slept 12 hours a night by 16 weeks so I thought by 6.5 months Id be there with Awen!!!
But no she wakes regularly every night at 230-330 and it can take up to an hour to settle her. I cant even see a pattern to it. Sometimes she wakes cos shes pooed but sometimes not. she doesnt cry just rolls over and lies there on her back shouting. id leave her but a)i can count on the fingers of one hand how many times shes ever slept on her backand b)shes three foot from caelyns bed.
Ive tried everything, change of nappy, replacing dummy and walking out, last night i even tried milk and she did drink 5.5oz but didnt go off to sleep just drank it and carried on chatting. From what I can see its her kicky leg doing it cos everytime she starts to drift off it starts kicking so she gets annoyed and rolls over instead cos its woken her up.
The only way ive found to get her off effectively is to put her back on her tummy with one hand on her bum or the ankle of her kicky leg if its particularly bad and the other on her head and eventually she gives in and goes off
Shes then up at 5am every day. Again its got no rhyme or reason sometimes its cos shes pooed sometimes not and she was up this morning even after the milk at 3 but wasnt hngry cos she only had 3oz at 545 when i finally gave in and made it. I think its the f*cking leg again.
I just dont kno what to do im shattered, neil never ever hears her so im up every night, im either working nights and awake all night or im on days and up in the night with Awen and frankly ive had enough. any thoughts would be great cos I adore my little monkey but im ready to sell her to the gypsies atm

| Also to mention in the mornings at 6 i tend to bring awen in with me to try and let C sleep longer as at 5-6 when awen gets up we take c for a wee and give her some milk and she often goes back but if i try and put awen back she wakes c up.
But atm awen wont sleep beside me on neils side of the bed like shes always done she wants to be cuddled up with me to go back off in morning. Its only been this week and im not sure if me working now has made her feel unsettled |

| no idea im afraid, but you have my sympathies....atm mr.mari has a mattress on the floor and elijah spends most of the night in with me just so we can get enough sleep to go to work and/or not completely lose our minds! |

| I don't have much advice but you have my sympathies. Jamie's slowly getting better but it was just a case of perservering. If his really bad I will still put him in bed with me and let him cuddle up. Normally then he dozes off and I can stick him back in the cot. If its just this week then I would think its you going back to work and hopefully it will stop soon. The couple of weeks I was bad Jamie was very clingy and wanted to feed loads in the night even though I'm fairly sure he didn't want it and just wanted to be close. However, the second two weeks his been much better and, now his cough is starting to go, is sleeping better than ever at night (we normally get at least one 3 or 4 hour stint) because nursery wears him out. Sorry like I said I don't have any advice but it does sound like it could be just work unsettling her |

| Well the not wanting to go back to sleep without cuddles in the morning is new this week so guessing Thats separation anxiety with work but the night waking and early mornings has been going on for ages so i think its just her. Realising her kicky leg needed holding still to help her sleep has helped settle her quicker but Ive still got a chair next to the cot now so i can sit down cos can still be a long haul. Shes slept seven til five a few times now so i know she can do it just Doesnt which is almost more frustrating to me. Im taking her to clinic Monday for a weigh in so gonna ask about her leg then to see if they have any ideas that might help as i think its a big factor. |

| I took awen to clinic. the HV looked baffled by her kicky leg so is referring her to the paedicatric docs. |

| she has met all of her other goals though so i wouldn't be overly concerned (easy for me to say i know), it's strange that it's just that leg but i would bet it is just her muscles/nerves aren't in control - especially as its mostly when she is tired |

| I know, im trying to be dreadfully rational about it. Medical knowledge is as much of a curse as a help though. Im trying to catch it on film when shes dozing to show them but cos she does a few in quick succession then stops for a while its hard to get it. I got some of her doing it in the day but shes playing and it just looks like her kicking normally lol.
Shes settled a bit better this week now we are finished holidays and i can be strict on naps again but Neil was up 5 times with her last night while i was working though i suspect thats cos she missed me cos only daddy was going into her as i got major cuddles today. Mummys girl that one |

| at the risk of sounding far too sensible - there isn't anything you can do right now but wait and see what they say.....so surely there isn't any point worrying overly about it (again.....easy to say innit)
mr.mari is the same, he tends to be a bit on the un-worried side though (vocab going...must be time for bed) rather than being more worried by knowing what *could* be. i like to keep all the hysteria all for myself. |

| Sorry hun I'm a bit out of the loop recently so don't know much of what you mean about A's 'kicky leg' but if it's any comfort to you at all when Thomas was A's age he had a weird 'flappy arm' that used to annoy him (and me) immensely at feed times and sleep times. Meal times were hard work coz it would just flap around constantly (was his left arm only) and knock the spoon out of my hand and we would end up covered and it also put him off eating (I'm still not sure if it contributed to his weird eating problems). Nap and bed times were also annoying coz it would start again when he was tired and disturb him so I had to either hold him to my body to stop it or semi-swaddle him to keep him still (again not sure if this contributed to longer term sleep issues). I posted about it on AB at the time because I was so worried about it, I spoke to my HV at the time who did or said nothing to reasure me but told me to 'keep an eye on it' . Anyway the point to all this is that it went away on its own in the end and I'm still not sure why it even happened but was very annoying and terribly worrying at the time. Fingers crossed A's leg is a similar thing that will just sort itself out in the end xx |

| Cheers Mari. No im also on the unworried side of worried as im fairly sure its either an immature nervous system thing or at most restless legs but its nice they are checking Debs ta so much for replying as it sounds very similar, theres a post furhter down called rogue leg which descirbes it fully but sounds like thomas, at bottle times, sleep times or when shes mad her little leg kicks madly and seems to really bug her and its waking her in the night. Left leg only though she often slaps me with her left hand too and i cant decide if its related or she just thinks i need a wallop lol. Its mostly cause its causing her to wake in the night i decided to have it checked to be honest but im expecting them to tell me shes just a fidget and i have to persist with the sitting at night holding her ankle still to jhelp her sleep/trapping her foot under my arm to feed her a bottle |

| I am really surprised that the HV is baffled...I am sure its VERY common in babies and like you say is the under developed nervous system
Hope you get some satisfying answers from the doc though! |

| LMAO! Good girl!!! And yes I have no doubt thats exactly what she will do. We always get parents coming in at work with kids who have been screaming in pain all morning and then sit there laughing and giggling as soon as we get them in a cubicle and i believe the parents because kids are lying little toads lmao |
