| This baby isn't co operating with my plan for a vbac so far but I still really want to try for a natural birth . However, everyone keeps telling me that it would be much more sensible to opt for a planned section and I'm wondering if I'm just being stubborn wanting to avoid one Baby is large and keeps turning breech although he still moves round loads still so that could change. My consultant is happy to support me to have a vbac it's my family and friends that don't want me to. I had an emergency section last time because Stephen's big head got stuck so there is the possibility of that happening again. I don't want a section because last time the anaesthetic didn't work and I was really ill afterwards with a really bad infection and it took 3 months just for the wound to heal and there is no way I could manage to look after 2 little ones with that sort of recovery. So basically I would like some honest experiences of planned sections or vbac attempts if you've had one. I really need to sort out in my head what I'm going to do and I don't want to put me or baby at risk just because I'm being stubborn, but all the people who are telling me to have a section have never had one before so I feel like it's easy for them to tell me that and I'd I like people who know more about it to give me their experiences please |

| I've had an elective c section and it was great I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about it. When I had Ellie I was booked in for an elective but went into labour so went in for an emergency, which was also great but not as relaxed as the elective. My first was born via emergency which was awful and I got put to sleep and missed her arrival I might sound like a total nutter but I really enjoyed the whole experience The 24 hours after are a bit uncomforatable but the pain killers are spot on so there no pain. After 24 hours you're up and in the shower and then slowly getting back to normal. When Ellie was a week old out walking 3 or miles a day Relax and enjoy it xxx |

| In all honesty, you need to do what you want and not what your family wants you to do, you are the one that has to go through it not them. I personally wouldn't want the recovery a csection entails whilst looking after a toddler too. I had an elective c section and it was relaxed in the sense there wasn't the panic that you get with an emergency, but it's not an experience I want to repeat and I shall be aiming for a vbac this time round. Like you I had a terrible time with the spinal and lost a lot of blood, plus the infections after. Go with your instinct xxx |

| I've only had one and that was unplanned but if I had another I'd push for a vbac right to the end. I felt awful for weeks after. I also couldn't hold Jamie for more than an hour because of being stitched up and shaking so much. If the dr is supporting you then you can't be putting your baby at risk so I'd go for what you want |

| I am desperate to have a vbac for my next one...I really didn't like having a c-section but that may be down to the fact it was an emergency and also I was really looking forward to giving birth.
If you have the support of the dr's for a vbac and it's what you really want to do go for it....its all well and good your friends and family saying you should have another c-section its not them that's having it done.

| i had a section when i had a 15 month old boy too, and tbh i found it fine. Aslong as you hve a supportive partner you will get through recovery!
I had elective and it was very relaxed, i was out of hosp after about 40 hours and i was shopping at tesco and doing all my hoovering and ironing 10 days later soon as they took my staples out, i am not lying but i actually found it really easy, however ifi were to do it again i would make sure it is on my birth plan that they do NOT use staples, its the lazy option, they are very painful and uncomfortable then you have to get them removed which isnt pleasant!

| I had 2 sections. The first I was in alot of pain after and got an infection. The second planned went great not as much pain, no infection etc which was a good job as I had a 1year old to look after as well. I was driving again and almost back to normal after 4 weeks although I didn't overdo things for a while. X |

| My first was an emergency and I was ill after from drug reactions, pe complications and an infection. However, due to the induction being such a scary experience I opted for an elective due to needing a measure of control back.
I ended up with another emergency sec as A had her own time frame and decided to cause problems but a slightly more controlled one where i got 18 hours notice rather than 20 minutes and I can honestly say I am so relieved i had the section. The only pain and problems with my scar i had I had were of my own doing from getting up so quick and being so determined not to accept any help but otherwise I was up in 6 hours (though I probably wouldnt reccomend that) and out of hosp in 2 days. I couldnt pick C up but I recovered so much quicker and felt so much better for it than had I tried for VBAC and had it fail and had another traumatic experience
At the end of the day you do whats best for you though hon |

| Thank you everyone, it really helps to hear other people's experiences. I think in my heart though I still really want to try for a vbac. It depends if baby behaves and stops turning breech though! xxx |

| Personally I would go for the section to avoid an emergency one. It is your decision though and you seem determined to try for a vbac DO you think youd be disappointed nothaving a natural birth?
I had a crash secton ith Amelia. 2 minutes notice and I think it went fine and I'd have no problems having another one. I was out of hospital within 24 hours and was up and walking down to SCBU 6 hours after having her. I do think you were unlucky to have the complications you did but they are unlikely to happen again x |

| You see I think I am just really scared of having a section because of last time. I know my mum is worrying about me ending up with an emergency one again but I think I would regret not giving a vbac a go. It's helping to hear everyones experiences because it's making me think through all the possibilities and what I really want. I want to get things straight in my head before I see the consultant on Thursday so we can talk everything through. Thank you xx |
