Hay hun, am not to sure to be honest but I would write one up anyway and discuss it on the morning you go in with the midwife/dr team.

As far as I can gather your OH should be able to cut the cord though, looking it up on google it has been done a fair few times Very Happy

As for holding the baby straight away (and having the screen down)..am not sure, just been watching a video that basically says that its not possible due to the section and it being in a sterile environment. scratch

Mine was urgent rather than elective, but they did ask if i wanted to see the lo as soon as born and i said yes so at that point they lowered the screen slightly so I could see her. But they didnt hand her to me straight away. Dave had first cuddle.

Would def put it into a plan but think best just to say when you go in as I found with Sophia, I wasnt even asked for my birth plan! Do you have to go in before the section to talk it through or anything? Maybe mention it then or ask your mw about it at the next appointment?

Wow, not long left now, how exciting!

Heres what was planning on asking to see if its possible, its not actually loads:
Would like screen dropped to see her born
Delivered onto chest
Would like to be awake but if GA indicated want hubby to stay and see her born
Husband cut cord
Home ASAP pref next day

Ive got a pre op booked for the thurs before so will discuss it then and going to ask my mw about it today, ive heard they can drop the screens slightly on a cpuple sites ive read about elective sections so fingers crossed. And im turning up at crack of dawn to try and be done asap so got that day t let spinal wear off and next day will be aiming to be up and about and leaving cos im not staying in as long as i did last time i cant leave my chicken that long without her mummy

Will do, my mw said to ask at pre op appt. Neils decided he doesnt wanna cut the cord, said he wanted to do it when it would have been a natural birth with c but he 'doesnt wanna see my guts'....men Rolling Eyes

I remember with Milo I didn't have the option to have him on my chest as my arms were strapped out horizontal to my body for the epidural, but they did clean him up then lay him by my head for a minute, which was lovely!

And holy cow - you can go home the next DAY?? I wasn't allowed to move (no toilet, no shower, nowt!) for 3 days, had a catheter in, couldn't go and bf Milo, he was in the capable hands of the nurses until I could move. I was kind of dreading not seeing this one for that long, but if they let you go home that early, then yay!

Usually its 3 days Kat. But they aint that strict here. With C i was on 1 to 1 care for 24 hours as a high dependency patient but C was with me constantly then got moved back to ward and gotten out of bed next day after spinal wore off. Usually its a couple of days for pain relief and healing then home but i wasnt allowed cos my bloods were still f*cked up 6 days later. Hpwever im aiming to escape early this time if all is well, as long as not on high dependency and bloods ok, awens ok im gonna be up and about asap and nagging em to let me out
