| I didn't think Rhys was chavvy at all! Oh well I apparently stand corrected. I have to admit I'm a little bit of a snob and Amelia's name was in a list of other slightly "pretentious" names. The way I looked at it though was that if she became a doctor, managing director or just worked for a bank like me, then she'd have a name that she wouldn't be embarrassed of nor would possibly hold her back in life.
I do admit to cringing in soft play centres at some of the names and tend to avoid those kids. But then I am a bit of snob after all! |

| Lol this is funny! Talk about generalisation! Yeh I k ow a few chavvy people who've chosen names I wouldn't like ie kayne and the kids are awful! But I know some middle-upper class families who have named their children things such as poppy, Matilda William and those kids are worse behaved that the chavs! Names mean nothing to anyone except the person choosing them! I'd never stop my kids playing with some one because of their name regardless of whiter or not I have anything in common with the mum or not! Afterall it's the children playing not the parents! |

| I'll admit I can be a bit snobby, like when I hear a certain name at a play centre or in a shop I always think in my head, bet they are chavvy. I wouldn't stop Imogen playing with someone based on their name though.
Also I wouldn't have said Rhys is chavvy in the slightest |

| There are some names I think euuugghhhh at cos its not my cup of tea...but that would be as far as it went..I would never dream of stopping Izzy playing with them Seriously though the woman is clearly deluded if she thinks you can judge a childs behavior by their name... I grew up around A LOT of very wealthy people with kids my having names like Alison & Verity - they were no different to the 'normal' girls I was brought up with who had names like (erm now trying to think if any had 'chavvy names' lol) ermm well they had normal names back then...but my point being that the posh kids with posho names were just the same but plummy talking |

| I do have ideas in my head about the type of family a Chardonnay would come from compared to a Beatrice, I think most people do if they are honest. In saying that I wouldnt stop Caitlin being friends with a child because of their name. I have friends who had kids quite young, 18/19, and then went on to have a 2nd child 7 years later and their choices of names are very different. Same family but a chavvy name and a posh/traditional name, so just shows makes no odds. Being 100% honest id have more reservations about my children playing with Beatrice and Henry as Id worry that they would come from familys I wouldnt fit in with at partys/playdates and would worry what they would make of me & whether I could afford to send Caitlin to all the things they do to keep the friendship up. Thats a confidence issue with me but I guess. I didnt think Reece was chavvy until I thought about naming this baby it... a few ppl pointed out that it was very common in housing estates near them and had heard it screeched around the park on numerous occassions. I still wouldnt let it put me off but, at the end of the day my name is down for the same housing association so I could well be their neighbours . x |

| i am now questioning how many ppl think Danielle is chavvy yes i call her D on here but i refuse to shorten her name to Dani or anything , her name is Danielle and just hope she does not choose to shorten it in future my son Scott , i never classed that as a bad name but the articles say otherwise lol ! Kieran , again i dont see that as chavvy Paige ( possible baby name ) , i never even considered that to be a " bad choice " name i liked Amelia , Riley and Elliot for girls but Oh hates them all |

| I dont actually know anyone personally who has named their children 'chavvy' names, I'm actually concerned now thinking that maybe Libby and Dexter are chavvy names I agree with Snoops though, I think it would be very difficult to not have an image in your head of what the family is like when you hear a childs name, however it wouldnt stop me from letting either of my children become friends with them - chavvy or not. |

| I think we all have our own opinions on naming our children and thank goodness we're all a bit different or all our children would have the same names.
I think this woman is a total knob and has made a twat out of herself by talking such rubbish just because she doesn't like the names mentioned!
Who would ever stop their child from playing with another child just because you didn't like their name!! |

| I have to say that for some reason there are some names I do just cringe at as a teacher. Jade is the obvious example but only because the only Jades I have ever taught have been awful and I'm always willing to be persauded otherwise. It is strange how often names can give away your socio-economic status. We have a lot of upper-middle class students (one told me recently I should buy her house because they'd put the price down and it was quite cheap now - it was £2 million) and we have a lot of Elizabeths, Rachels, Isabelles (in the various spellings), Olivias, Elinors and Sophies.
I certainly wouldn't stop Jamie playing with anyone because of a name. Someone with what might be considered one of the chaviest names might be one of the nicest people you come across |

| nope thats not me.
Im not a name snob at all. I used to think chloe was a bit chavvy but now I just think its really pretty - probably because its not as common anymore.
I cant believe she mentioned the name Ryan. I thought that was a lovely name and only know nice ryans.
everyone probably has a name of someone who they cant stand and as a result hate the name

Why though - that poor little kiddy may end up lonely with no friends cos the parents of his peers refuse to let kids play with him - how is it his fault , how does it make him bad and what harm could he bring to your kids cos his parents picked a bad name? At the end of a day no child is to blame for their name, I just dont see how anyone can judge a kid on its name |

| This woman is a knobber. No way would you stop your child playing with another due to its name (the hitler example aside!) My friends who are teachers do say that there are names that seem to be more often allocated to naughty children, they also say Jades are a nightmare! In terms of boys names they all have naughty children called Callum for some reason!
I agree there are names that i would not give my child and i am bit snobby and like old fashioned names but it is each to their own x |

I wouldn't stop my child playing with someone because of their name and I think everyone should choose the names they love for their children and stuff what everyone else thinks! xx |

| I do have extreme views on names. My absolute worst pet hate ever in the history of the universe is what my aunt does with her daughters name. It's Aimee May ....... Yet she ALWAYS writes it as Aimee-May. I dont know why it bugs me so much but it really really does. Its like no ones knows what a hyphen actually means, ummm if you wanted her name to be Aimee-May then put that on her fricking birth certificate. WHich brings me to my second point, people who shorten names. Im not on about like calling an aimee Aim or an Imogen Immi but people who completely change names. Like my MIL who has decided AMelias name is Milly. If I wanted her called that I would have named her that. Also people who call their kids one name then use their second name,,What is the actual fecking point? Just call them the name you wanted to!! Ummm Ive gone off on a rant and forgotte what the OP was |

| As a non chavvy mummy to a daughter we named Paige im biased and think the woman is talking bullshite Ok some names make people think stereotypically of what a person will be like but to discourage a child from playing with another simply because of a name is so narrow minded We chose Paiges name because, most importantly we both liked it and secondly (at the time) hadnt heard it used frequently, so thought it a little different. As an adult i really dont judge people by the name they have so would hope i dont judge my daughters friends by their name either |

| i love the way they describe the 'normal plain' names as posh lol...
and the way she has included 'verity' my gosh how cruel is that name! =o|
however i do hate people who change the spellings and make the names phonetically incorrect and make the poor kids life hard work trying to learn to spell it when it makes no sense what so ever...
i was reading a magazine yesterday sbout weird names and some people are just stupid with their poor kids...the guy from my name is earl his poor son!! his name is Pilot Inspektor.... serious?!?!?! |
