| But it's really just a general query haha Is it simply to do with teeth and orthodontic issues? I suppose you can't take a thumb away - but my instinct is to always try and go for the more natural route, so a thumb seems much more inoffensive...am I wrong? Not starting a debate I just wonder if I'm missing something! |

| Lewis sucks his thumb as I took his dummy away when he was 6 weeks. They say its easier to take a dummy away and thumb sucking can cause teeth probs and can continue into adulthood! But my oh sucked his thumb and didnt have any teeth problems etc. There are pros and cons with both so I suppose its personal choice but sometimes the baby makes it for you ie not wanting a dummy xx |

| Yeah Elijah doesn't want a dummy (although it was great for about 2 weeks - I nearly died of guilt cos I was so determined not to give him one and caved haha) but now won't take it - he doesn't want his thumb either, the only thing that will do is his WHOLE fist |

| Libby has sucked her thumb since she was about 3 months, she never took to a dummy so didn't really have alot of choice as I couldn't stop her I don't really know what problems it can cause, but Simon sucked his thumb til he was about 13 and so did my brother and their teeth are absolutely fine (in fact my brothers are lovely!) x |

| Lol bless him!
I was always told not to because you can't take a thumb away and teeth. I don't suppose all thumb suckers do it till adult hood or have bad teeth I just think you hear about them more.
I wouldn't be too worried if he wants his thumb/fist lol |

| I still suck my thumb ! I did have a brace when I was 10/11, I suppose thumb sucking didnt help but I think I would have needed one anyway. Even though I still do suck my thumb my teeth havent gone back to how they were so that proves my theory. I refused a dummy as a baby and thumb sucked from weeks old. My mum did everything to get me to stop sucking my thumb and nothing worked. Caitlin takes a dummy, at least it can be taken away when she older but atm it also can be lost in her cot at night and a thumb cant . I think its personal choice and generally baby decides! x |

| Thumb sucking is not good. I sucked my thumb until i was 9. its ruined my teeth, ended up with a bad overbite. had a brace when i was 13 but for street cred issues i abandoned that after a year and now i regret that as my teeth are still a bit wonky. A dummy is softer and more pliable than a thumb so wont do any damage to teeth x |
