| so I received this email from Boots today.... - Quote :
- Lynsey, your baby is 17 months old
Dear Lynsey, | | Your little one will probably be able to combine words together to make a sentence now.
|
erm.... she doesn't say any words, never mind a sentence? Am I just being thick or is that a bit advanced for 17 months?? |

| i just dug mine back out of the deleted folder.......erm apparently we should be using pull ups to help with potty training....and i should feed 'her' whatever 'she' wants to eat?!
i love boots, they have some child genius' (geniiiii?) anyway, it's 11 days til he is 18 months, not today. and no, elijah can do words - picking them up really really quickly, but doesn't voluntarily stick them together except for 'uh ohhhh' followed by 'incident' |

| If I'd have received those emails 18 months ago for Thomas I would have had a right panic - he literally said 1 word only until he was 2 and showed no signs of potty training until then either (I don't believe you can even think about potty training until they start to talk). However Hannah is the opposite and is 'talking' well now and will string 3-4 words together whenever she can (although I certainly wouldn't class it as a sentence), she is also showing signs for potty training in that she will tell me when she is/has done a wee/poo and will go and lie by the nappy drawer to be changed, she loves to sit on the potty/toilet and has done the odd wee/poo on there but through good timing rather than intention. She also grabbed my hand the other day and dragged me upstairs pointing saying "weewee potty up there" but again I wouldn't think we are anywhere near the 'pull up' stage yet. These sorts of milestone emails annoy me immensely because having 2 polar opposite children I can't win, with Thomas they made me feel inadequate that my child wasn't doing what most were at his age and now I have madam I worry about talking about her for fear people will think I'm bragging or being a pushy parent - you can't win. I can't even compare my own two kids as people (my mum/nanna ) make out that I'm putting Thomas down when I say Hannah is doing things quicker than he did which I'm not, it just fascinates me how different they are. Every child is different and will achieve these things when they are good and ready. xx |

| I honestly wouldnt worry. By this age Aimee could count to 5 easily, but couldnt (wouldnt ) even say 'mum'. She spent her whole time at that age either counting or saying 'whose that?'. I dont think she started to put actual words together to make a small sentence until about 3/4 months ago. x |

| I wouldn't worry Linz, Ava gabbles loads but doesn't make much sense, she can say maybe 10 words but her only sentence is what is this? |
