Private Health Cover Question _
PostSubject: Private Health Cover Question   Private Health Cover Question EmptyTue Jan 03, 2012 6:28 am

Sorry ladies... another one for you!

I have got health cover through work which cover maternity/childbrith, etc. I automatically get a £100 'baby bonus' that they send when I have a baby.

However, it also seems that they offer either a) private hospital stay in the even of a non elective c section, or b) a cash benefit of £100 per night for a c section.

I am going to give them a call tomorrow and get it all confirmed, but it looks like I may be able to claim my £100 'baby bonus' plus an additional £300 (£100 x 3 nights stay) for having the section.

Has anybody else claimed for this? x

Yes that's right as it's not pre existing, i took the money with Chloe although if I ave to have another one next time, I'm opting to use the private and stay in the private wing as the post natal care I had last time was rubbish. If you opt for the private stay you'll probably have to pay an excess, mine is £100 for the whole stay xx

I think I will go for the cash. Mainly because when I was pg with Aimee they told me that although I will be covered, the baby wont, so if anything goes wrong with the baby it will be sent back to an NHS hospital. We need to make sure that the baby gets the relevant heart checks when she is born too, so it makes sense for me to stay in the NHS Hospital.

Thanks though hun, thats great. I am going to call them tomorrow. As much as I dont want a section, at least every cloud has a silver lining and if we are £300 better off (after the £100 excess), then it will help loads if we have to cover taxis, etc. (James refuses to drive my car, lol!) x
