Going away for xmas? _
PostSubject: Going away for xmas?   Going away for xmas? EmptySat Oct 16, 2010 4:14 am

So for crimbo, we are going up to middlesbrough to spend it with lukes family.
Last time we went up there we drove (7hours Rolling Eyes) and the car was full with the travel cot, buggy and a small suitcase and holdall of clothes/toys etc.We were only there for 3 nights.
Lukes mam offered to pay for our flights this time because of the weather being unpredictable(even tho it could stop us flying too) Trouble is how on earth will we be able to take all of that with us Shocked We left a travel cot in Cyprus with Lukes mam so hopefully she will bring that back with her. But we will need to take the car seat too.
Then theres the problem of not being able to take Taylas xmas presents from us with us (far too big and far too much Laughing ) We have to think of all the stuff were be coming back with too.
So when people go away at xmas what do you do about all the presents!?
Think were have to have a 2nd xmas day back home!

I think you'l prob have to do the whole santa thing when you get home Laughing . You prob could get all that on a plane but you would have to pay extra in baggage. Could they not borrow a stroller, travel cot & car seat of friends/family for you to use when you down there? My OHs cousin has twins and lives and london and when she comes to Belfast she borrows from people while staying at her mums....

Sounds like a nightmare, I hadnt though about bringing presents back at xmas. Hopefully they will thought of this too and bought light/flat/small things. Is it too late to tell them to buy stuff like that? Or invite them up in Jan/Feb and they could bring what you cant fit..

I agree with the santa thing when you get home... she will have to do it twice.

With the car seat... that would concern me (im prob being silly), but you would have to check it in, as you wont be able to take it as hand luggage (does anybody know if you can?) as it may get bashed about and then it may not be that safe anymore if it did.

Sounds like a right nightmare.... you may be better off getting a cheap carseat (like in the Asda event) to keep up there?

Oh yeh i am trying to get luke to ring a member of his family up there to pop into asda ad grab a cheap hauck buggy. I suppose i could ask if they could buy or borrow a car seat too then.
Gutted about presents though Sad I think we will just have to have another xmas day when we get home, i know my mum and everyone will want to give Tayla her presents to her themselves.

If only it were that easy Laughing They came to us last time and the whole family are up there. They are in the process of buying a new house up there (moving back from Cyprus) so need to sort that out too.

i think the buggy goes free with a child. it does with ryan air so you would need to buy another one.

we did the presents at home last year only took two with us to my mums and it was so nice coming home and watching rowan open his presents just us 3
