| 25th centile is nothing to even worry about!
Sounds like he is eating plenty, that's just how it goes with some babies, so I cant see why the HV has said anything! |

| I just checked Caitlins red book and at 6mths she was 16lb 15oz. I dont know how different the boys charts are to girls but that made her 50th centile. At 6months I had just started weaning Caitlin and she probably was having 24oz (max, some days only 18-20oz) of formula plus 1 sml stage 1 jar or porridge. He is eating plenty! I thought the general rule was that babys doubled their birth weight in 1st 6months and tripled it at around a year. His weight sounds normal to me. I found that Caitlins weight really slowed after 6 months. She has only put on 7lb in last 8months but has moved from 50th centile to 75th. I really wouldnt worry, like Lisa said 25th centile is fine! Not all babys weigh the same. x |

| ava's been on the 25th centile since birth , has he dropped a centile or stayed on the same one? either way there doesn't sound like there's anything to worry about it, I think at that age they start burning the calories off more as they're more active . |

| thanks for your replies girls , right from birth he followed above 50th centile up untill he was about 13 weeks old he then lost a little weight for no reason and ever since has dropped to below the 25th ??? she said that this is odd , about 8 or so weeks ago they gave me lactose free milk just incase he was lactose intollerant - all this did was severley upset his tummy and made his bum so so sore it bled - he then lost over 1 pound in approx 3 days which took him about 5 weeks to gain back ?? he is very tall and is constansly on the go either trying to crawl or his legs are going like the clappers ! he is an alert happy little boy so he is not unhappy at all this silly woman has me so worried now , she even told me to try and wake him in the night and start dream feeding him again to see if i can get more milk into him to see if that helps with his weight - i think that is mad seeing as it has taken me god knows how long to drop his last bottle ???? would any of you ladies start dream feeds again ?? he is making up for the loss of his last bottle in the dayso i dont see the diffrence ?? bloody woman has me in such a spin - grrrrr |

| i dont think that you should start dream feeding again if you dont feel he needs it, however, i am not going to say that a health professional is wrong -- as obviously they have had a lot more training than me!! lol has he started gaining weight again since his weight loss? if he is still gaining weight then i wouldnt worry hun, Kieran was on the 2nd percentile when he was 7 weeks but he also lost a pound of weight in 5 days due to being ill (and seeing as he was only 5lb 1oz when he was born, this was a lot!) and dropped to below 0.4th, he managed to get back up to the 0.4th after a couple of weeks, but has literally only just got back up to the 2nd, so what im trying to say is that if he is gaining weight im sure he will be absolutley fine and i dont think you should worry, as long as he is eating and drinking and otherwise well i think all is good xxx |

| i wouldnt dream feed him if you think hes had enough in the day and is going through happily. If hes dropped to 25th but itsnt dropping anymore he may just take time to gain it back. Thats why c is only just getting back to 9th, she was ill and dropped to 2nd and its taken months to get back back to 9th cos she also started walking and now running and burns it all off. Id do what you think is best |

| Thanks girls i dont think i am going to start dream feeds again i worked so hard to get him to sleep all the way through - if he was hungry he would waken he does gain weight but very very slowly in the last 3 weeks he has gained 1 oz and the woman said he would have nearly gaines 8 or 9 ?? im just going to try and chill out about it and try up his milk / food where i can and see where it gets me |
