PostSubject: quick xmas question :D   quick xmas question :D EmptySun Oct 17, 2010 6:43 am

how much (roughly) do you spend on your LOs for xmas? - if you celebrate it!
its not a competition at all, was just wondering, every1 keeps telling me not to spend so much on xmas, i spend about £500 ish each on them, but they all have birthdays near xmas too, and usually get about £100 for birthdays, so it is working out quite expensive - and even more so next year!! lol
do you think this is too much??
i think one of the best things is seeing their little faces in awe when they come downstairs xmas mornin and see that santa has been! lol

It's entirely up to you how much you spend my dear. Last year we spent between £250 and £300 and she had loads. This year though she's only getting a doll, pram and the trimmings as she's been spoilt throughout the year. I was going to get her a play kitchen but I'm going to save that for her birthday in March. Plus as shameful as it is she has pretty much everything else Embarassed

£500 Shocked I wish we could afford that much and we only have 1 at the moment!!!

No seriously, Libby gets various bits and bobs throughout the year and I really think I would struggle to find enought to actually spend that much. We have spent about £100 on xmas and around £50 for her birthday. xx

Bloody yikes!!! We don't spend that. I have spent about £150 but I have been buying for months so I got most things in the sales, like her Disney princess kitchen.

I think its what you can afford - what is the point of spending too much and then paying it off for the whole of the next year? So if you can afford £500 each then why not spend it!

I can't remember how much we spent last year as we started with an amount then kept seeing more things and in the end she had way too much really!

This year I am going to spend around £200 and be quite strict once that has been spent!

I don't feel bad about her not having piles of things because she gets new books and toys during the year anyway, she gets a new toy or activity at least every month, usually much more often.

lol well thats how i started of thinking this year Kieran will b 1 at the end of nov, so i know he wouldnt know any different but feel guilty spending more on the others than him, but saying that i did go mad on scotts first xmas (i spent £350 on toys, and he was 9 days old Rolling Eyes )
i wish i didnt lol, but i just see things and think oo they'll like that and buy it Embarassed and then it gets to this time every year and i have a sort out and loads of last years toys go to charity or the toy library! and Scott has loads stuff that he has never played with!! coz all he wants to do now is go out and play football! lol just wish i could learn!! lol
i got Holly a pram and a baby born, and those 2 things alone came to £100 Shocked and although they are cute and i know she will love em, im kinda regretting it now coz i know i could have found a dolls pushchair for less than £60!! lol
just too guilty of impulse buying!! lol xXx

£500 each affraid

If you can afford it hun go for it - I wish I could afford to spend that but like some of the other ladies I think I would struggle to find things to spend that on - I'm sure as mine get older I wont struggle though. I have spent about £100 so far on Thomas but thats for his bday and xmas. I will be getting him clothes and a few more bits nearer to xmas so I think I will probably spend about £100 on xmas and £50 on birthday. I have spent the grand total of £12.50 on Hannah so far - I'm seriously struggling to know what to get her. I don't struggle to buy her clothes though so no doubt her money will be made up in her wardrobe Very Happy

last year we spent bout £120 on evan, he was only 6 months and had absolutely tons of presents for the £120
this year so far i have spent £85 on toys for him and again ive got him absolutely tons cos i got alot of toys in sale and on special offers there is a few more toys i want for him and a couple of arty things paints n stuff then im gonna get him some clothes new pjs slippers housecoat so ill prob spend £200 this year on him
on ohs older son we usually spend £300 bearing in mind he gets xmas from his mum aswell last year we spent £400 on him and he had bout 6 presents was unreal he is 13 so things he is interested in are so much more expensive computer games clothes etc this year we will spend between 300-400 again on him def no more than 400 i felt bad that evan had so much last year compared to him but wen u look how much we spent on both of them he had nearly 4 times the amount spent on him than evan did
as evan gets older they will have roughly same amount spent on them,

Scott looks like he has hardly got anything lol, his xmas list was: laptop, ipod touch, mobile phone and digital camera!! i told him to carry on wanting!!! lol
but i got him a scooter, a ben10 digital camera, and a cheapy mp3 player, he has got some other bits, like books and stuff, but i dont know what to buy him! he loves football, but he already has 6 footballs and brand new football boots, but Holly i soooo easy to buy for and coz i keep buying her so much, i cant not spend the same on the boys lol!
does that make sense? its just with Holly anything pink, Dora the explorer, or disney princess then its bound to be a hit!! lol

When it was just me and my tommy I went mad I think I spent about £400-£600 but the circumstances were totally different, I was in full-time work and only had him to worry about!
Since getting with oh we have two tommy's and Charlie now and he will only let us spend £100 on each of them.
Sad I could easily double or even triple it.
Unfortunatly I'm one for spending a small fortune on sticking fillers lol

£300 on the older kids doesnt go very far at all. Last year we bought Tom a PS3 and it was a nightmare cause we couldnt just get him that. And at 13 Chelsea wants phones and stuff so they dont actually get many presents at all!

I spend way too much and it's shameful. Usually well all is said and done, Shayne and I average about 7k into Xmas, but that is including food..booze and all the trimmings. I so want to cut back not just to save money, but to go back to simpler times where it isn't a race to who get's what and how much..but the meaning of spending time together. Our first Christmas we had 500 dollars to spend on everyone..and we managed to remember everyone on our list and it was one of my fav Christmas's. Less is more sometimes. xxx

If you are then we are too Laughing

I just couldn't justify spending so much money when there are other more important things to buy, especially with another one on the way.

Mind you saying that, I've just spent £80 in Next on clothes for Libby Neutral

The other reason is we are going to be treating Libby to something when this one x comes, which will probs be a doll, pram etc so around £50. x

7K?!?! lol
wow!!
i spend £500ish each on em, but i still feel like its not enough sometimes, i think mainly for Scott, coz me and his dad aren't together, his dad lives at home with his parents, has an okish job, but no bills to pay so whatever scott wants scott gets, like his xmas list this year i told him no, he not having anyof it he too young, but daddy has announced today that he is getting him his own laptop!! grrr!!
so to scott i look like the bad one if you know what i mean, and he has even told me that i dont love him as much as his dad does coz daddy always buys him whatever he wants!! so i suppose it is a bit of a competition, but, from posting this i think i have realsied that i dont need to spend £500 on each of them, as i said myself scott didnt even open half the stuff he got last year, and im struggling to think of things to buy him so i am just spending money for the sake of it! just will have to cut down on the girly things for Holly so i dont have to make it up to the boys lol! xXx

I won't be spending anything like that on my kids! I am not even sure I would spend that much if I did have it!

This year they are getting lots of bits and bobs, so they have loads to unwrap! By the time I have got everything then I will have probably spent a maximum of £150 (probably nearer the £100 mark) on each of them, well Jake and Aron anyway! I am not planning on getting that much for bubs as he isn't even going to know the difference as he will only be about a month old! I am going to get him a few bits though as I know Jake and Aron will love helping him unwrap his pressies!!

Think I am a tight arse!!!!
