| Ladies
I feel such a failure having to post on here for help! Ellie is my third and I should know all there is about parenting but compared to Ellie my other two were angels all the way.
Ellie just screams for her own way all the time, if she doesn't get she wants she carries on screaming until she gets all blotchy and has no energy left!
Typical things she screams for are: to get out of her pram/trolley whilst shopping - getting out of her high chair in restaurants so that she can crawl around the floor. We took her out for tea yesterday and two couples asked to be moved because of screaming! She used to be so good, I don't know what happened!
So! When do you teach them no?
When do they start to understand no?
I know its not nice but we have started to call her verruca salt! |

| Harry already understands no as we had to use it from a very early age lol! He is a little monkey into everything but he doesn't have tantrums or screams much. First of all you need to talk to your OH about how you're gonna disapline Ellie as you need to be united and not fall out over what to do with her. You have to learn to not give in to her, so she gets the message that no matter how much she screams and tatrums shes not going to get her own way; its not nice at first but she will soon get the message that she is not boss, you are... Sorry don't think I've been much help xx |

| oliver is sometimes like this, say if he doesnt want to go into his car seat or something, but it doesnt last long as i just ignore the behaviour! although recentley has had two big tantrums lasting over half an hour, i dont even know what was wrong with him anyhow, we have been using no since he started crawling and getting into things, sometimes he doesnt listen but i just remove him and he usually carries on doing something else without being too botherd. i it will be perseverence tbh, just dont give into her tantrums and stick to what you say (sorry if your already doing this). good luck xx |

| You're not alone. They all have their moments. Aimee is great most of the time, but when she doesnt get her own way, she can be a nightmare! I just ignore her. It sounds bad, but if I rise to it, she will catch on in no time and before I know it she will rule the house! x |

| Thanks girls
I really can't remember the other two being this bad!
I'm going to have to start showing her who's boss!
My problem is my oh! He says he can't seeing her upset, thing is it's not him that's left to deal with it. Yesterday when she kicked off in the restaurant it was me that ended up going out and sitting in the car with her while he finished his dinner.

| I think Laura is right - you need to ignore her!
When she screams in the highchair - turn your back to her until she stops - she will soon realise you aren't reacting and will start to stop sooner, and eventually stop as soon as you turn. I still do this with Izzy, and she knows not to even bother carrying on as soon as I ignore her cos I won't do anything!
You need to tell your OH that unless he wants a really horrible toddler that he wont want to take anywhere then he WILL have to listen to her upset to get over this - pandering to her every want when she screams is only going to make the problem worse and then take longer to fix.
In the supermarket I tend to give her something to distract her if she starts to get niggy - in a supermarket is no time to be teaching lessons really, as you might do something you wouldn't normally just to stop the embarrassment! So maybe give her something to hold, or eat even, but continue to ignore the behaviour - maybe just start talking normally about shopping! |

| Id agree with Lisa, my OH will also do just about anything to avoid confrotnation so mummy is the big bad wolf. C also tantrums to get out the chair. I try distraction first then ignoring and if that fails I find a low VERY firm tone takes her aback enough to settle her so i can go back to distraction. It aint perfect but shes getting the idea now she has to stay in chair til all have finished And dot worry about those ppl asking to be moved. Anyone with kids will understand and those that dont can go swivel. you are teaching her boundaries so screw em |
