| Ok so after the whole text message thing from FIL saying that he didn't want us coming round anymore because of the atmosphere (apparantly all behind MIL's back), we gave him one more chance and went round there today...... We got there and it was very strained, I just could not be arsed to make the effort and neither could Simon. Then his dad came out with 'right, are you going to tell me what I've done wrong' OK I have a list as long as my arm with what he has done wrong but until he sent that text message we had been getting on OK and making an effort so that he can see his granddaughter and then he throws it in our face. So basically it was going back and forth between them (not heated though, otherwise I would of taken Libby out), I was getting so angry but holding it in - my heart was pounding and I was shaking but managed to maintain it. All him and MIL were going on about was how it made THEM feel, this was what was making me the angriest, my FIL has been an absolutely shit dad to Simon and only thinks about himself, Simon is hurting - I can see that but he keeps it in. Anyway MIL kept piping up so I turned around and said to her that if in 30 years time, Simon told Libby behind my back that he didn't want to see her or her children ever again (not that he ever would) he would be gone, I would never let anything or anyone stop me from seeing my family, she turned around and said 'I hope Libby never does what you've done to us'. I asked her what the hell has me or more importantly Simon done and she couldn't give me an answer!!! In the end the 'discussion' fizzled out and well because Libby is so cute and funny she lightened the atmosphere and we even stayed and had lunch (first time in long time). So I have asked them to come around ours (again first time in a long time, since the 'dinner table' incident) next sunday as it's Libby birthday on the Monday after. They have agreed and I'm hoping this has cleared the air slightly. This is it though - no more chances. Well done if you've got this far peeps and thank you for reading |

| Thanks for replying, there's alot more shit he's put us through but I'd be here all night!! I'm not bothered what he does to me, I do worry about Simon because like I said he is keeping it all in but is hurting - not just from this but a hell of alot of stuff that's gone on, but more importantly I will not have him hurt Libby or the new baby. Libby loves him and gets so excited and happy to see him and he turned around and said he didn't want to see her I'm all for second chances (well more than that in this case), but this has got to be it. xx |

| They sound really bloody strange hunni. You are doing an amazing job of keeping the peace. I'm too hot headed and would have flipped my lid a long time ago.
Your mil sounds brainwashed too.
Anyway, I'm glad that things are hopefully getting clearer and that there is still hope that they will come to dinner on Sunday x |

| Laura, honestly it is so so difficult keeping calm and I very nearly lost it today but Libby was there and I wasn't going to let it get heated in front of her. I just want Libby and the new baby to have her grandparents in their lives, we all live in the same town and I keep thinking that if we had just accepted FIL saying he didn't want to see us then what about if we pass them in the street when they're older? What do I tell them both? And no matter how much I get pissed off with them and how much they hurt or piss Simon off they are still his parents. xx |
