Hi

For the past couple of weeks Alfie i being funny with his sleep. Normally he is great. Goes down fine at 7/7.30 then sleep through till about 7.30 - 8..

Recently tho hes been screaming and crying when weve put him down to sleep. And hes started waking up at 3/4 in the morning thinking its morning and wide awake. |The other morning i was up about 6 times to settle him and put his dummy back in. also he keeps rolling onto his front and then gets frustrated (altho he can roll back i think hes just lazy during the night!) so i have to go in and turn him over.

Ive moved him onto lumpier foods today as i was thinking maybe hes going through a growth spurt but do u reckon it cud be down to his teeth? He just cut his first one 3 days ago and i think anther one may be coming through soon.

Ive done a bit of controlled crying tonight and after 10 mins he went to sleep. It was awful the thought of him crying himself to sleep but im not getting him into the habit of being rocked to sleep. I dont mind cuddles when hes not well but i think babies are so intelligent - they realise staright away that they prefer that more than just being put down in his cot!

Anyway, fingers crossed that he sleeps through tonight!

x

I'm not experienced in teething problems, so cant say much but I am sure that plenty of babies do have disturbed sleep patterns when their teeth come though

If you think he might wake cos of losing his dummy you could try a blankie/nunu? Izzy has had one since birth (she didnt want a dummy) and luckily she was always able to find him even from a young age as they tend to fall next to their hand and they instinctively know to grasp out for them - whereas a dummy when it falls from their mouth could go anywhere! Once they get used to a nunu it can have the same effect as a dummy - Izzy still sucks when she puts hers to he mouth, yet she doesnt put it in her mouth lol!

If he is going to sleep after just 10 mins of crying I don't think that really is CC - more like crying down which is quite common for a lot of babies to do this, Izzy still does now sometimes. So if you leave him and don't go in and he drops off without being settled again then thats quite good and he will soon cry less and then not at all most of the time...hopefully!
