I haven't had my central heating on since early May but I'm sat here freezing with a blanket round me. The kids are fine, Hannah is wrapped up fast asleep and Thomas is running about like a nutter so is generating his own heat. I'm too tight to stick the heating on for 1/2 an hour Rolling Eyes to warm myself up. Roll on september!

Just wondered if any of you are like me and refuse to put the heating on in the summer months no matter how cold I am (it's against my religion! although if I thought the kids were cold I would) or am I just tight? Shocked Laughing

September! Are you mad! affraid

We put our heating on around October/November... our house seems to stay pretty warm until then (watch that change this year though, lol!).

But, yes, I am the same and wouldnt put it on in the summer (unless Aimee needed it on, of course).

I don't feel too bad at the moment although I did feel chilly last night. Simon is the same though, he refuses to put the heating on until October, even more so as we've just had a high bill come through Rolling Eyes

My DH is a bit (lot) tight so he wont let us put ours on yet.

If it starts to get cold we'll light the fire, but we still have to get a fire guard!

My dad use to be so strict with the heating! One in October of in April that's it no questions asked!
I on the other had will have it on in the middle of summer if I am cold! I pay my bills so only have myself to answer to!
I actually had the heating on in the car this morning as I was cold! Felt lovely!
I'd far rather be hot than cold!

we have awful storage heating too - i still cant really work it. i have had the boost on a few times this summer, mostly for elijah when he has been having baths in the living room and things as our flat is quite draughty. our bedroom window latch has broken and is stuck open at the moment so it was really quite chilly last night Laughing but we managed with blankies Smile

i think having come from a family who refuse to use heating and spending a childhood feeling cold (its a very prominent memory!) i am quite liberal with the heating and will be with elijah

Are you lot mad? WTF Heating - put a jumper on! lol!

I am married to a Yorkshire man who grew up in a house where snow didn't melt when it settled on the window sill inside the open window.

We have regular discussions about the temperature our thermostat is set to - I think 12-15 degrees is a bit cold Shocked

LMAO Gill - "put a jumper on" reminds me of my dad!! and I have to admit I am turning into him Heating Affraid his favourite saying when we were kids was "LIGHT AND DOOR!!!" i.e. when we came into a room we had to turn off the light in the other room and shut the door to keep the heat in. It is a standing joke in our house now but it is ingrained into my brain Heating Icon_rolleyes its one of my pet hates now if I see lights left on in unoccupied rooms.

We never had any heating when we were kids apart from a small gas fire in the front room that was only allowed on in extreme conditions. I have memories of winter nights watching tv (only 4 channels Heating Icon_eek ) with the sofa pulled up in front of the fire with a duvet wrapped round all 4 of us Heating Icon_lol. It's funny when you read guidelines on how warm a babies room should be and what they should and shouldnt wear in bed - I remember going to bed in cardis and socks and picking icicles off the inside of my windows in the mornings and it didn't do me any harm whatsoever - well apart from making me a tight wad with the heating Heating Icon_lol

I slept with socks on last night Embarassed

This house is ridiculous - stupidly hot upstairs in the summer, too cold in the winter, decrepit heating system that's either full whack or off and costs a fortune to run Mad

I'm having to have the bedroom window open though at the minute or I can't breathe scratch - which doesn't help with the chillyness Laughing

I don't have a thing about putting the heating on in the so called "Spring/Summer" months. If i'm cold i'll put it on lol. But i've not really been that cold.

I did have the heating on this morning though, just in the kitchen to get the laundry dry.

I only have to put the kitchen one on and the heat rises right up through the house (kitchen's in the basement). I live in a old terrace back to back and it keeps cool in hot weather and warm in winter, might have something to do with the 3 neighbours on each side Very Happy
