I am in serious trouble, Iv started a little white lie and now I am swimming (literaly!! haha)

mum and dad are away at the mo, so iv been popping over to check the house and feed the dogs. We've had really cold weather lately and their pipes have frozen up as they are near the surface at the back, as its all dug up as they are putting patio in.
So when I was there yesterday I may have tried the tap for a glass of water........ and I MAY have forgotten to turn it back off.. so now today iv gone in and the pipes have un frozen and.......... well water verywhere!!!!!!!!!!! the washing up bowl was in the sink upside down so the water was on full pelt and hitting that that sprayed everywhere! the floor was a good 2inches in water, the cupboards all soaked, mums kitchen things full of water, like her kenwood mixer bowl was full (this is the other side of the kitchen on the side!!! nooo idea how!!) everything!! their kitchen is hand made wood!! so thats all swollen & the water has got undder the varnish and pulled it up!! everything is soaked. uckly they had a leak a few months ago with the dish washer so they got rid of the carpet inthere and put lino (sp) floor. so all day been mopping and got the humidifier out. when I left was drying out.
rang my mum & dad..... but I told them I didnt touch the tap.......... just came out of my mouth!!
think my dad suspisios, but he was mad! sp cant say now feels like im 16 again haha
just spoke to him now as he rang to see how I was getting on, but I can tell he doesnt believe me, keeps saying thats so strange how its just turned on... yikes
their not home till sat, hope it dries by then!!!!!!!!!!

im trying to move house, got nothing done now today was going to ring around & change address on everything, lillies got broncitus and may have chicken pox, was at friends all day yesterday and she rang this morn her LO has got chicken pox!! great all I need and I havnt had it. grrrrrrrrr and friends due now soon, bt could be going in early, but I cant see her if we get it . and lillie was up all night crying, then hol was up feeding, then as I got hollie off lillie woke, then got her back & was time to feed hollie again!! still peed off about hv yesterday ARGH NOT MY DAY

omg what a nightmare! personally i would just fess up cos i cant lie to save myself - i mean it cant be any worse can it??? good luck!

Did something very similar when we briefly house-shared with a friend...

She was so good about it though - claimed on her insurance saying that it must have been the plumbing or something and thye arranged for big industrial dehumidifiers asap. and she got all her laminate re-done etc. in bathroom, kitchen & hall. These things happen, especially in this weather xx

hun have a hug, they say things come in 3's well this has to be your quota, I would tell the truth too hun and just tell them what went on yesterday im sure all will be well soon enough x

tbh i would fess up, im sure they'd understand and no permanent damage has been done.

I wouldn't confess either.. it could have happened due to the cold... surely?
They might not be covered on the insurance if someone left the tap on but if it was accidental mysterious incident then they should be ok

Haha aw I might say oh I might have tried it bur had the kids with me so I wasn't concentrating& can't remember..... Better still it was lillie!!! (pops fav girl Iv been demoted!!) lillie gets the blame for eating chocolate in this house it works hehe xx
