now alfies eating "proper food" he just has more or less the same as us when were in the house and when he went out for dinner on sunday he had his own plate of dinner - mash, veg, meat. my mother started having a right go at me cos it wud have salt in but really?!! its not like i can control the salt content in food and he never gets lots of salty food anyways - we dont use a lot of it when were cooking.

yesterday i had sausage and chips and beans when we were out and he had a bit of my sausage and some beans and once again my mam had a go!!

he eats well at home. has plenty fruit and veg and snacks on healthy things.

parents really get my goat!

he's your child and it's your decision on what to feed him....and make sure you remind your mother of that Smile

Maky eats first in our house..but still then goes on to pester everyone else for a bite of their food! She is just sampling from everyone...plus not sure if your mom knows that eating together is one of the most social things you can do..so it's very normal! xxx

know what u mean my mum doin my head in jst now about evan to - not about food tho

but to be honest hun i wud have shared mine with evan a few chips here and there or "bad food" as such every now and then isnt goin to harm him and like u say he eats very well when at home
evan always has a good meal at home but if we have take away i make his then i will give him a bit of my takeaway if he wants or if we were out id give him some of mine
u cant control the salt content in everything and its not like ur pouring salt over his food every night lol
i think parents jst like to have something to moan about sometimes haha

eli is a bit little yet to be eating the same as us but we do try and eat at the same time (even if one of us has a bit of toast while he is eating toast, or i have a bowl of porridge while i help eli with his brekkie), i remember living alone and eating by yourself is horrible! especially with someone feeding you and watching you Laughing

sometimes mum's have good intentions but it sounds like nagging. Ava always wants my food and i give her little tasters when we eat out, i always take a little snack pod too for her incase i'm having something i wouldnt feed her like nando's.

I let Drew nibble what we are eating, it is actually good for the child's development to share food and to eat together as it makes them less fussy when they are older. MJ had no teeth until she was nearly 9 months old so that limited her a bit whereas Drew has 2 teeth so he can eat things like bread (he enjoys those Laughing cow triangle things in a bread roll very occasionally and they are very low in salt too) and baby biscottis etc... (when we have pizza he like to chew on a crust and shouts at us if we don't give him one lol)

It does sound like nagging as well to me hun. If he eats healthily normally then the odd nibble here and there won't do him any harm, same as us adults. I obv wouldn't let Drew eat chilli or curry etc (unless it was a baby version made with a Heinz baby pouch) xxxxx

Ignore her! Be polite and nod but at the end of the day he's yours and as his mum you know best. Ellie usually before us and I would never salt her food but like others have said she always wants we have so we give her a bit, her favourite is popodoms! I worry more about cheap processed food that has hidden salt, fat and sugar.
