| Had my scan today. Not sure if should be worried or not Apparently shes weighing 2lb 6oz which is smaller than C was at 28 weeks as she was 2lb 15oz. Her head and abdomen are coming up 26-27+3 weeks so shes 1-2 weeks behind at moment though apparently has ridiculously long legs whic are 29+ so her legs are about 2 weeks ahead of rest of her. So ive got another tiny with long legs like her sis coming then. I have got consultant on friday and will be asking if thats within their accepted range for scan error as im a bit anxious obviously with the high bp etc. Im hopig by the next scan she might have had a little spurt and caught herself up a bit but i cant shake this fear they are gonna tell me at some point shes too small/not growing and has to be hauled out early. If shes still small at next scan might have to invest in some tiny baby clothes as i got rid of all of C's! Ive got newborn and up and remember newborn DROWNING C. Anyone with experience of growth scans cos im doing my best to be rational but i am a smidge anxious |

| Well i dont want to scare you but this is exactly what happened with Tayla (IUGR) Didnt you have it with C? Hopefully she has a growth spurt and catches up. Did they check your placenta? I left all Taylas tiny baby clothes in Cyprus otherwise i could of sent you tonnes! |

| Aw hun, I havent got any advice (sorry) but I can completely understand why you would be anxious. Did you see a MW afterwards? Did they express any concerns at all? xxx |

| Also, are you going back again to check her progress? I had to go back in two weeks, i think she has gained about 300grams in two weeks which was less that half of what they are meant to. (i think i cant remember all the details now) But i was at the same stage you were. Fingers crossed everythings ok, i saw your post about cutting out pop somewhere? My doc told me to try lots of lucazade to encourage growth. |

| Hey terri. Im glad you replied as i remember tayla being teeny. They said C had a bit of IUGR from the pre ec but nothing was ever picked up til she was born cos despite my bp probs etc i never got extra scans, the only reason i know her 28 week weight is cos i had a private 3d scan. All the extra fluid retention i was carrying masked the problem and for a long time i was told she was gonna be a monster! They checked my placenta at 24 weeks and said the doppler readings were in normal range but only just and thats with me on aspirin. They checked my fluid today but not the placenta. Currently im not due back for a repeat scan for 4 weeks but like i say consultant appt is friday so he may schedule something in between trhough with the care they seem to give me im not holding my frickin breath. TBH im not worried about her being small, C was small and i dont mind a wee bubba as long as i know shes safe in there. My fear is that shes going to stop growing or slow too much and have to be whipped out early cos id like her to stay in there cooking for another 10 weeks. I am reassured by her getting to 2lb 6 cos i know nowadays thats not too bad a weight but im gonna be a damn site happier when shes over 3. As long as she keeps growing and at a decent rate im happy but obv with the bp problems etc i cant help fretting. I think with the pop its more the caffeine i shud be cutting down on terri but i dont drink tea or coffee so i wudnt say its way ott. Might get some lucozade though! lol Suse the radiographer didnt say she just said shes small and she has long legs, ive text my mw but shes not gotten back to me. If she does will see what she thinks otherwise its waiting to see doc friday. Oh well nothings ever simple lol. Will see what the docs appt brings then in 4 weeks time go shopping for some dinky stuff |

| Well shes doing well so far thats not a bad weight, Tayla was 3.8lbs born at 36 weeks. I often think what would of happened if i was in England whether they would of picked up on it or not as it was only because i was being scanned so often. I think at about 34 weeks Tayla had head at 30weeks, body at 28 and legs at 32 or something like that so was very skinny with long legs! Like you say its not the weight which is the prob, just the risks that go with it. I has steroid jabs for her lungs too. But she was out of hosp after 3 nights, no jaundice or any probs feeding and her development has been fantastic. If you need more info about it all ill dig out my notes. I didnt have any BP probs at all either. Let us know what the MW says, good luck x |

| I had a growth scan, but because she was measuring big. It was picked up on a private 3d scan so then the rest was done through the hospital. Turns out she was a little fatty (and I had lots of water) and was born at 38+2 weighing 8.05 lb. Glad I didnt get to 40 weeks! So, my growth scan was correct xx |

| Well i spoke to me mw. She got me to check the charts in book and said shes falling between the botto two of the three lines on the ac and the hc so not to fret too much. She said consultant has options to speed up y scans so i have another in a fortnight or so and to order more placenta dopplers in light of my bp etc but he may just wait til 4 weeks. She said as long as A keeps growing between scans all is well and maybe i just have smaller babies but the way to tell is to have more than one scan and see what the difference is |

| I think its more the may shes growing between scans than what shes actually measuring that would be the worry. If shes just a little baba then she will be measuring smaller. The way I see it is there must be a huge variation between sizes of babies in the womb to allow for the different sizes they are at birth.
FOr example my nieces, SIL's babies were both born overdue at under 6lb and perfectly healthy she just cooks them small whereas my cousins were both born at 37 weeks one due to preeclampsia and the other was an induction due to severe spd both weighing in at over 9lb so if theyd have had growth scans then there would have been a huge difference but they were all perfectly healthy.
Was the AC meausurement the 27+3 one? I've been told by my consultant that thats the most reliable one for measuring growth after 24 weeks because it's basically how much chub they are putting on.
I don't have any experience with growth scans yet other than the one they did just before Ollie was born, we had a private 4d scan at 28 weeks where he was measuring 28+5 and supposedly weighing 2lb12 and the one at 32 weeks he was measuring 29+3 so although he was within normal limits he had barely grown in a month.
Hopefully your conultant will bring forward your scan dates in light of the measurements, if she needs to be brought out quicker then just remeber shes fully formed she just needs to grow and she can do that just aswell on the outside as she can in your belly. As they are pciking up on the problems and it's not an emrgency as such they will have time to give you steroid injections and she will be just fine!
Let me know how it goes friday hun xxxxxxxxxxxx |

Let me know how it goes friday hun xxxxxxxxxxxx Hey chick. The AC measureent she took 2, one said 26+3 the other 27+1 i think so they will always take the biggest easurement. The head was 27+3 i think and legs 29+2. MW thinks its possible i just grow em small and to be fair although im overweight im only 5 foot 3 so if i was y ideal weight im actually quite small-when i got to 10.5 stone which is just outside of it before getting pg i was built just like C with a tiny face and slim build with long legs so Awen may be the same. Im happier now ive spoken to binny (my mw) and will see what consultant says fri. Like i say i have no probs with her being dinky im used to dinky i just want her safe and well and in for as long as poss so hopefully bp wont affect her and she will continue to grow between scans |
