PostSubject: Perfect Mums   Perfect Mums EmptyFri Jan 07, 2011 8:40 pm

My SIL who lives in America, works full time in quite a high powered job. She works very long hours each day and also has my 11 month old niece.

Well... she is like the perfect mother! She feeds my niece all of this exotic food and cooks everything from scratch twice a day for her too.

When my mum told her that Aimee had a sandwich sometimes, she apparently freaked out and was so shocked that I gave my child bread! scratch

She even has time to write an online blog and take photos (professional photographer) of each meal she makes! I havent even heard of half the food that she makes things out of! Embarassed

So, what am I doing wrong? I barely have the energy to scatch my arse in any given day, let alone do a full time job, cook all these wonderful foods and then write a sodding blog about it!

Sigh Rolling Eyes

Does she have a cleaner??

I often think that the ones that potray themselves to be 'perfect' mothers aren't really doing everything they say they are, either that or they're on some kind of drugs Very Happy

I really believe there isn't a perfect mother, so she may be feeding her child all the so called right things, but who is looking after her child while she's standing in the kitchen cooking them, in my eyes the better mother is the one who is spending the time communicating and playing with their children instead of letting the world know how wonderful they are

You're a fabby mummy xxxx

Ahhh you may have hit the nail on the head. No, she doesnt have a cleaner but her mum goes to their house and looks after my niece and apparently cleans the house for them every day (she says my SIL is really messy).

You are right though... I would rather give Aimee a sandwich for lunch and spend time playing with her, than in the kitchen making a load of stuff she probably wouldnt touch.

(she does eat proper meals, btw, lol!)

How dare you give you children sandwiches! Perfect Mums 830764 she's nuts!
I agree with Mandy! She's not doing the important parts of parenting, i'm sure she's a brilliant cook tho, shame she cant chanel her energy in her little girl.

I sometimes look at people and wonder what i'm doing wrong, but i am the best mum for my babies and they don't want for attention, they eat well and are happy! Thats all that matters to me!

When i first went back to work i near killed myself trying to maintain all these standards of making food from scratch, having immaculate house and spening enough time with Lily as well as working 9 or 10 hours a day, then I got a grip and thought feck it!!

I think we are all happier now as we are all more relaxed and I can top your sandwich "crapness" Laura, sometimes Lily has fish and chips and even mcdonalds now and again. affraid

Amelia didn't have her 1st sandwich until she was 11 months (at the sheffield meet!) but that was only because I was paranoid about cramming as much veg into her as possible lol And I make all her food from scratch unless we're out for a meal..............BUT................ I only average 19hrs a week at work! And Amelia was/is a very very easy baby and naps for about 3 hrs a day. I very much doubt that a 2nd child of mine would be waiting until that age before having a sandwich lol

Amelia hates it if I have to cook whilst shes awake so I batch cook and freeze it. No way she'd let me give anything else attention that she could have.

I think everyone is right, she's almost definitely not perfect, something will be slipping somewhere! x

We're a sandwich family too! Why is bread bad for kids anyway?? I know it makes me fat if I eat too much but only since I got past 30 {years, not sandwiches})!

I know friut and veg are great but surely a balanced diet is better, kids need carbs!!!!

Kate, we do maccys and fish and chips too AND to top this we make chip butties!!

i cant believe you give your child a sandwich...call social services Perfect Mums 63571 Laughing
oliver gets a sandwich, or something small for lunch most day. if i make something proper for dinner then he wont eat tea anyway so i dont see the point...he's like me not a big lunch eater. if i have something big at lunch time then i wont want to eat for the rest of the day.

i totally agree, id rather be spending my time with the kids than in the kitchen cooking some exotic meal that they probibly wont even eat Rolling Eyes x

I bet in a year my SIL will be giving my niece a good old sarnie too! Very Happy

I'd like to know how many quality hours she spends with the kid - by the time a full time job, all that cooking and blogging takes out of her day - will her kid really appreciate it?!

At least your kids get a filling in their sandwich, Wil walks around with a plain slice of bread to munch on quite regularly (he gets it himself and seems to like it).

I am a terrible mother...I work full time (40 hours a week), let Wil eat bread, sandwiches, crisps, chocolate, maccy d's, fish and chips and anything else he fancies, but who gives a shit because my kid is happy, healthy and doing pretty well at everything they are supposed to.

If perfection is feeding your kid exotic food and taking pictures of it then I am crap because the most I ever make is cheese on toast and according to OH I don't do that very well.

oh and to top it off I have a cleaner Laughing

Sorry. Didn't read the whole post but there's no such thing. We all do what we can in any given day and if folk think it's not enough then tuff. Don't be judged by other folk.

I don't think its true tbh...they just say it to make people feel better lol!

My best friend is one of the best mums I know...and her house is always spotless...even now she has a 3 year old and a newborn it will be immaculate!

For a long time after I had Izzy my house was the tidiest it ever has been - some newborns sleep LOADS so why wouldn't you keep it tidy!

My house is never tidy - I just don't have the energy to do it. It's a case of small house with wayyyy too much stuff in it. It is clean though so I don't care Laughing
