| Ok, Edith takes 7oz at most feeds, cant get anymore than that in her but she is only going 3-3.5 hours between feeds, even at night although sometimes from 7 she might go 5 or 6. Have stopped BF during the night as its taking an hour to feed and then she is up after 2-3 hours again. So my question, do you think i should be introducing some solids, she has taken porrige well before but i have held off to an extent worrying that i am forcing her on to solids too soon. any advice appreciated plz, should i get the blender out, have some sweet potato and squash in the fridge |

| Well Izzy was 17 weeks which was after the 16 week safe time (about their gut being ready) BUT had it happened before that I like you would be finding it hard to decide!
Its only 2 weeks and I think if I were in that situation I would start to give her food...but be prepared for a few weeks before she changes her pattern...I introduced foods slowly so it wasn't an instant result and really she only settled back to her long stretches of sleep when I got her up to 2 meals a day. |

| If id read this post last year I would have been thinking no, but too scared to reply incase I upset anyone. It still seems early to me, but as Iv said iv never had a hungry baby so its hard to compare. Dr Hilary (why am I quoting him like he's my mate today? ) did say about a study that said gluten should be introduced between 3-6mths. I was shocked it was 3mths, but thats what he said, so by that you could start her. If you think she is ready and able then I would go for it. I have to say weaning didnt make Caitlin sleep through... though nightfeeds were stopped around 16 wks (went 11pm-7/8 maybe), she still woke for a dummy/fuss numerous times in the night and still does. Do what feels right x |

| I weaned my first baby at 12 weeks as this was reccomended at that time. She was well ready and we had no problems. She's a beautiful 20 year old now who'll eat anything and has no allergies or intolerancie to anything. Ellie was just about 16 weeks when she first had solids, she preferred fruit and veggie purées rather than baby rice or porridge. |

| i am baring in mind that Edith has mild(ish) reflux too
The gav has worked a treat on her and her milk intake has gone up so i am not jst thinking of weaning her to get her to sleep longer, just to make her more settled in general.
She is still incredibly windy even on comfort milk and gripe water, she just doesnt seem to get along with milk very well. |
