Need to pick your brains, just had this scan of a wedding cake sent to me as a possible design but haven't done this technique before. Have you seen it? Any ideas of how it would be done, how hard/easy it would be. I don't want to price it unless I can do it.

If you enlarge it it's a little better, she's emailed me a scan from a magazine, it's like a folded draping effect on each tier

Ahhh I see. I haven't tried it and I haven't seen any youtube tutorials for the same technique. I've seen one by Edna De La Cruz (tonedna) but that's just swags. Hmmmmmmmm TBH it looks like it'd be easy but then when you think about it it could be really difficult! Do you think you could have a practise on a little dummy one? x

yeah I will do, just not sure how to price it, she's given me three designs and they're all a bit weird! lol In theory it should be easy, I just wouldn't want to take on an order that I wouldn't be happy with the finished result iykwim, especially for a wedding cake. Thanks anyway xx

I would maybe price it up with double the fondant you think it'd need and then give yourself at least an hour per tier to cover. That way you wouldn't be short.

Have you got pics of the othe ones? Sorry being nosey! xxx

She wants it white base, lilac ribbons, lilac and white roses, silver leaves and pink piping Shocked

I've gently suggested the pink piping may be one colour too many!

I think it's too much, I've suggested she has the piping in white and if she wants it to stand out I'll put a little lustre dust on it. I'm hoping she goes for the last cake, because on a personal level I don't want to put skanky looking cakes on my website Laughing

I'm going to watch my big fat gypsy wedding tomorrow just to see the cakes!

Lol, it's not very nice is it, do you know what it reminds me of, those stand things you get in jewellery shops that showcase their jewellery, they always have that weird draping. I hope she doesn't go for that one. I've priced it higher than the other two to try and deter her Laughing
