argh getting to sleep problems _
PostSubject: argh getting to sleep problems   argh getting to sleep problems EmptySat Feb 26, 2011 8:24 pm

Right callums gone from december sleeping 8.30-5-6am with a atleast 2hr nap frm 12 waking at night too going to bed at 9-.9.15max till 7-8am with a 2hr nap frm 12.30ish sleeping through x so though ok hes growing up its actually worked out better but now im having a nightmare getting him to sleep during the day and night its taking upto an hour and half. during the day it will take me an hr to get him off now and he will sleep for an hour Shocked what is the point he did this yesterday so i thought ok thats fine should be easier gettin him to bed tonight well i sure was wrong 9pm he went in 10.30 he finally went to sleep woke up at 7am Evil or Very Mad
Now he is teething has half of the tooth cut through he is babbling alot more last few days so i dont knw if this could be anything to do with it learning he also had bad colds recently.

Do i stop him from having a nap during the day see if that helps get him to sleep at a decent time or do i carry on with what im doing incase its something i mentioned im such ina mess hes not eating properly hes started the tantrums/screaming hes just completely changed within a couple of days.

Any advice would be great xx

Its hard to know - I asked about naps the other day and some toddlers don't nap at all - but I feel Izzy still needs her afternoon nap

Have you tried putting the nap further back? I've only been doing it a few days but she used to have a midday nap but then was up ages as she goes to bed at 8pm, but wouldn't go for an late afternoon nap...so now I've moved it back to after lunch at around 3pm

Is Callum still in a cot?

If he is just put him in his cot and let him cry for a bit until he falls asleep. It is painful to listen to but within a few days he should be going to sleep quite quickly.

Wil goes to bed about 7-7.30 and sleeps until 5.30-6 and has a 2 hour nap about 12.30. He has a strict bedtime routine, goes for his bath at 6.30ish then stories until 7.30 latest then lights out. He often moans or grumbles but is usually asleep by 8. Once Wil goes upstairs in an evening he is not allowed downstairs again and that seems to have helped him to understand it is time for bed.

Try bringing his bedtime forward so that even if it takes more than an hour it is still not too late.

I would try bringing his bedtime forward to 7.30pm, then maybe 7pm. I know it sounds odd, but we had problems with Aimee and did a bit of googling and it turns out that they function better and can sleep longer if they go to bed earlier. It worked wonders with us. x
