I'm thinking of getting an electric breast pump. I had a manual one last time and it can be time consuming.

What did you prefer?

what one would you recommend?

I had a Madela mini electric pump was brilliant. They are expensive and if you're not bothered about 2nd hand you can get a good bargain on eBay. X

I had the medela mini one, I found the manual ones made my arms ache, you can always borrow mine if you like, I'm not going to need it anytime soon!

i have an avent manual and an advent electric - i prefer the manual but i only express 2-3oz at a time for cereal etc and not full bottles. the electric ones are good as you have a free hand and can sit and watch tv without really thinking about it pumping but i don't find the suction as good as with a manual.

the advantage of having both is i can use one and still have a spare sterilised as all of the parts are interchangable Very Happy i would try and get a 2nd hand electric one if you feel ok doing that (i did - thanks jo Wink) and that saves you spending loads to find which you prefer Very Happy

also lots of places can help you rent an electric one - your midwife/local nct/ local la leche league might Smile

I had a Medela mini electric and a Medela swing. The swing was great (as boobie pumps go). The mini was fine but the one I had was old (2nd hand from a friend) and it was so noisy I couldn't chat on the phone whilst using it.

The swing was about £80 but I sold it on eBay for about £60.

I only expressed while in hospital with Aimee and I used their electric pump which was brilliant. I just googled it for you, and it was an Ameda Elite one, but they are £870!! Shocked

No wonder I felt like I was being milked like a cow!

I then forked out for a Medala swing - amazing!!!! I sold it for just a bit less than I paid on ebay!
