| no idea, elijah is the same really - he will hold the spoon and 8 out of 10 times if there is food on it (or not!) he will get it in his mouth, but otherwise just wants to play with it/chew it - i think they are quite a bit older when they really start eating with cutlery |

| Harrison has only just started using a spoon and not all the time, he prefers using his hands unless it's yogurt or something sloppy x |

| hmmm trying to remember! BUT she was quite late as I liked her to eat by herself so let her use her hands til she was totally able to use the spoon/fork (if I gave her one when she couldn't use it properly she got frustrated)
So we never really had the food going everywhere cos the spoon didn't go in the mouth!
I think she has been using a spoon about 6 months, but I might be wrong! |

| I dont remember exactly, Sophie was under a year but she has always hated me(anyone!) spoon feeding her so we just gave it to her. Andrew was well over a year before he did it, he just never showed an interest! I used to give them a spoon and i would use one too so they just would dig in when they felt like it!
Both of mine used a fork before using a spoon.
If you want to give Ava something easy to eat with a spoonm porridge and yogurt are the best as they 'stick' to the spoon rather than needing scooped up. Messy though lol |

| Sophs would eat from a pre-loaded fork at about ten/eleven months, then lost interest in cutlery all together for ages and has only in the last 2 months or so really picked up on the cutlery front. She can now eat porridge and yoghurt all the way through with a spoon and any other meal, she eats some with her cutlery and some with her hands, I guess it just takes lots of time and practice.....
Am sure Ava is doing just fine, she'll get there when she is ready. From the other posts, it just shows that every baby is different and they pick it up in their own timescales. And she is still a tiny bean. bless her.

| And where has time gone? Am sure it was only yesterday you posted about her being six months! It goes too too fast! Hope she has a lovely birthday next week.
