Bringing baby into bed _
PostSubject: Bringing baby into bed   Bringing baby into bed EmptyWed Sep 08, 2010 6:50 am

Hi

Alfie sleeps through till 7.30 on a morning when i like to bring him into bed with me for morning cuddles (we both love this bonding time). Occasionally he falls back asleep till we get up about 8.30 (he gets his morning bottle at 9am).

My mam said i shudnt get into the habit of him coming into bed with us tho. I dont think its bad cos its not like hes coming into bed with us during the night - its on a morning once gav has gone to work?

What is your opinion on babies coming into their parents beds?

As you say I wouldnt do it in the middle of the night, or when you are trying to get him to sleep etc as i suppose then he would always want to be in there!! I dont see what is wrong with doing it in the morning to be honest - we work in the week so dont have time but we bring Lily in with us on weekend mornigns and its really nice 'family time' Bringing baby into bed Icon_biggrin I'd say if you are all happy with it then carry on x

I've done it at times with matthew, sometimes in the middle of the night if he couldn't settle when teething or ill, I have however tried not to do it too often and too many nights on the trot as i don't want him getting into a habbit of it. I have found that if i do do it a bit to often i have to be strict to get him back to his old routine though.

ultimately only youknow what is best for your lo and if morning cuddles work for you two then carry on! x

Like you I used to do it in the mornings occasionally for an extra hour in bed, I don't see a problem with that at all.

What I would say though is that it can cause ALOT of problems if you bring them in bed at night, I've got a friend who has a little girl the same age as Libby and she has NEVER spent a whole night in her own cot now bed. They fell into the trap of bringing her into their bed when she wouldn't settle and that's still how it is now Bringing baby into bed Icon_eek And she doesn't go to bed til 10ish either, my friend gives her a BF (they only way her little girl will fall asleep is on the breast, still!!!) then will put her in her own room, she will generally wake up about 3 hours later and they take her in their bed for the rest of the night. x
