Oh my word, Rowan has started to hit/slap. He's mainly doing it to me when i tell him he can not have something or i take something off of him. i get a full whack around the face.

So far what i've been doing is. sitting him down near the wall, telling him he should not smack its naughty, then turning him around to face the wall. if he turns back round i turn him back again. he sobs his heart out but when i go back over and sit next to him and ask him if he is sorry, he gets up and cuddles me and is ok for most of the day. until this evening.

i will carry go with what i'm doing but he kept getting up coming over and hitting me again. i put him back to the wall, he got up again and hit me, so i put him back then he grabbed the spare car sun visor the one with the metal rod and threw it at me.

is there anything else i should be doing? this has only started the last week.

i think he may have seen a child at nursery hit another child, i'm going to ask on monday

caitlin went thou this stage it was horrid she would hit so hard,kick scream and throw things!
i just kept sitting her in the naughty corner and telling her no! then after 2 weeks she stopped! now she hardly does it she does it if she gets excited its like she cant control her excitment and hits!

I think he carries on doing it just because he gets a reaction. Taylas the same (not hitting but other naughty things) the more i say no or move her away the more she does it
If however i ignore her she gives up. But you cant ignore things like hitting, or Taylas favorite 'game' climbing on the sofa to pull over the floor lamp (glass shade ) So id say the other thing you can do is stick to doing what your doing im afraid! Good luck, i hope it passes soon!

Oliver went through this phase of hitting, and we did the naughty spot too and it did work..within a week or 2 he soon got the message now he hasn't hit or scratched for months.

We used to sit him in the centre of the room and not pay any attention to him (just generally got on with day to day stuff).

He might be throwing things cos he know;s you are sat there watching etc. Would it be possible to sit him in the hallway or something so he's not getting the attention completely?

I don't think he's doing it necessary cos he's seen others do it, he probably did it once as a way of expressing himself but realised he got a different reaction from you.

I don't have advice, Izzy has just started doing it, only to me and only when we are changing her bum/clothes and she is stood in front of me - and she just whacks me in the face!

I just have to ignore her cos I am in the middle of putting nappy on, or clothes. Its not naughty as such, just frustration that I am making her stay there to get dressed!

im having the same prob with evan its only me he is hittin or biting
he went thru a stage of biting before but stopped it and now we r back to square 1 ive tried putting him out in the hall which is fine for a while but then he starts again usually when he is tired!

I think its there age! Jacks the same. What your doing is great, hopefully they will get the message and stop soon!

Wil tries it and gets firmly told 'no' and then unceremoniously dumped in the middle of the floor and left there with no interaction until he comes over and offers a cuddle (his way of saying sorry).

I am a great believer in ignoring bad behaviour as much as possible because any attention is good attention.
