Right, im probably gonna sound like a right plonker now.....but pls bare with me because ive scared myself!! Jess does this wierd little hand movement with both her hands a lot....and i mean A LOT......She sort of losely grips and twizzles them round at the wrist etc over and over again. Ive googled it, and its coming up with writhing hand movements being linked with Cerebral Palsy?????? She is also only just sitting up, but still falls sidewards a lot too! Does anyone elses babies do anything like this, or do I need to ask for an appointment, or can you just give me any words of wisdom......Im a bit scared xxx

elijah does this *constantly* or at least he did when he was littler and not able to scamper off and get distracted. he still does it when he is tired now, especially if he is in the car or highchair - it seems to be a sort of self soothing thing. he also has no troubles with mobility or coordination, although it did worry me a bit when he was still at the lying down stage! he would spend loads of time just sort of singing to himself and err flapping his hands (it isnt a flap even, more a rotation?). a friend of mine told me it is actually one of the basic motions of tai chi haha so maybe they both just have really good energy! anyway, i wouldn't worry at all - especially now she is starting to sit up. she will be moving around soon enough and the distraction might be enough that you only notice it now and then

it definately is comfort, Alice did it and stared at her hands while she was doing it, and E is doing the same just now too. E doesnt roll, do tummy time and is only just starting to want to take any weight on her legs, i alwasy thought she would develpo quicker than Alice but NOPE!!!! am not too worried, it will come when it comes so lisa STEP AWAY FROM THE GOOGLE i know this from experience as i whipped E off to the docs last week armed with a photo of her with a white pupil!! i am neurotic this time round you would think it would be easier 2nd time around

: Iv looked at photo's before of Caitlin with white pupils and worried as iv read in take a break or some other nonsense about how a photo saved a babys sight/life! I wonder if its tripe or if sometimes it is diagnosed like that! |

alfie does the same. And tends to do if hes in a paddy or wanting to be picked up. He kinda grips his fingers and moved thekm round in a circle and also waggles his fingers at the same time. Hilarious to watch! x
