I feed Bob goldfish pellets and Dan is always going on about me not feeding him enough, the box says 'several' times a day.

I used to keep tropical fish and I managed to keep them just fine, but he thinks I underfeed this one (he is banned from feeding Bob, and after last nights incident I am even more strict!)

So I feed him morning, lunch and tea time. He has between 3 and 4 pellets each time and he eats them all up right away.

He certainly isn't skinny - just looms normal, obviously has grown a bit since we had him, he is plenty active and always looking out the front for us and gets excited when I get the food.

My friend who has a tiny bowl with 2 goldfish in feeds hers a little pinch of flakes every 3 days - well flakes aren't good for goldfish anyway and 3 days seems a bit mean!

I feed mine twice a day, oops though I didn't realise they werent allowed flakes Will have to get some pellets tomorrow

Lots of people give them flakes, but they should really have pellets that sink - as goldfish shouldn't eat from the surface - they can take in too much air and can cause them problems - this explains why http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/393781/why_is_my_goldfish_floating_upside.html

i feed ours once a week if they are lucky, and they are just tiny multo coloured dots im not mean, i just forget!

1 of them needed to diet anyway, it was way to round so i like to think ive saved its life, because i think if i fed it as i should it would have died of obesity by now

I keep tropical fish and they get fed tropical flakes or worms once a day (not much help to you though )

I used to feed mine a little pinch of pellets (probably 5) every 2 days x

I have got goldfish in our pond and I throw in about 20 pellets every couple of days. They also eat the algae in the pond too, and are getting right fat little fishies xx

Its Izzys first pet and they are the easiest pet you could ever have really - so ideal for someone who can only do the plopping off food in the water!

I didnt realise they werent meant to have flakes, mine have flakes once a day sometimes twice. On odd occasion they have acted a little odd and so I given them a defrosted/softened pea with the shell off and that has solved any problems.

Yeh the pea thing helps remove the air from their swim bladder, but if you feed them pellets its stops it happening anyway

well me and my sister have this debate all the time. she had a goldfish that lived for 3 years and she fed it once a week. everytime I have a goldfish I say thats a bit mean and feed it once a day. and they always die really quickly. so maybe once a week is actually better?

I really dont think I could feed them just once a week Im to soft.
We had goldfish when we were little that were fed every day and they were transferred into our pond when they were about 12 years old and lived till they were 20yrs+

no me either. Id rather they died with a full happy tummy!

perry used to feed his fish twice a day (he has two smallish fan tail fancy goldfish things) but now only once a day. but its them pooey flakes. one of the fish suffer from a swim bladder prob too so spends alot of its time up on its side of the tank.. stuck up there. its like if it trys to swims down it floats up liek a cork!
