We got back from Turkey on Monday and while we were away Robert had to sleep in with us. Now wea re home he doesnt want to sleep in his cot obviously its much better with Mummy and Daddy! Monday night he screamed sooo much that he was really sick all in his bed and ended up having to come in with us as all his sheets were covered in sick! Last night i put him in his bed and i sat on his bedroom floor until he was asleep, he went to sleep in 10 mins but then he woke up again at 3 so i had to go in there and sit on his floor again until he was asleep, tonight i'm going to do the same but not sit as close to his cot and gradually move away more each night, do you think this is the right thing to do or should i just let him cry himself to sleep?
The trouble at the moment is i'm so tired from being away and our flight times were the middle of the night so the crying just really gets to me!

Any advice would be great!

Arhh hun i hope u had a great time. My LO has been having a few sleeping issues but its all ok now thank god.

When my LO kept waking i just went in the room and reassured him, i normally found him sitting up so i tucked hm back it. the other night i had to do it twice within one hour.
Tru putting him in there when he has a nap as well, give him a top of urs so he can smell ur scent just suggestions.

It sounds like you are doing exactly the right thing hun, the fact he went off to sleep in the end is a bonus. I would stick to what you are doing like you say and move gradually further away each night.

Crying themselves to sleep does work for some children, but like you say he got worked up the other night and was sick, so the last thing you want is him being sick and having to wash his sheets all the time.

heya, it sounds like the gradual approach will work - its awful when you can't get any sleep as your patience/tolerance just gets so low you give in and do whatever you can! (hmmm still there most nights )

if the gradual approach doesn't work the book 'no cry sleep solution' is really good and has helped us loads with elijah, he has never been a good sleeper but i just can't leave him to cry - worth a look if needs be

yup gradual retreat. we have to do this with paige some times as she cen be a poo sleeper n be awake at night for 5 hours!

tonight i did the same thing but wasnt as close to his cot but he didnt go to sleep tonight instead he just cried and cried, i had to swap with OH as it was really getting to me, he did go to sleep after 35 mins ish, I just feel like we're going backwards!!
