just wondering what your baby is saying at what age?

i keep reading that by 10 months most babies are saying mama...dada....and other very simple words, but other than uh oh! or boo! we don't get anything. not really any attempt at mama (doesn't really do mmmmm's unless he is eating haha) and says dada but its more of a dadadadadada. bit early to be concerned im sure, there was some question over elijah's hearing at first, but he has been restested and things seemed ok - is it fairly common to not be repeating things much at 10 months? (he does chatter/babble aaaaaallllllll the time btw)

Hannah waves and says 'hiya' and says 'dada' - sometimes to paul and others just as a general babble. She does babble a lot and copies the rhythm of what you say to her but in babble form. This to me is amazing having had a boy who never said anything until about 16 months when he learned 'daddy' and said nothing other than that until 21 months (and I mean NOTHING Rolling Eyes).

I wouldn't take any notice of any books or milestone charts etc I used to think there was something wrong with Thomas when I read posts about similar aged babies saying loads of words. However there is definately nothing wrong with him now - the kid never shuts up. Within the space of about 4 months he went from saying only daddy and not even atempting to copy sounds/words to holding conversations with me.

You will find he will probably concentrate either on walking OR talking. Early walkers tend to talk later and vice versa. Thomas was standing unaided at 9 months and took his first steps just before 11 months. Hannah, although she can tare around the house with her vtech walker, isn't as confident as Thomas was to let go so will probably be a later walker but talk sooner. God help me when she is talking as much as her brother Shocked - is it actually illegal to gaffa tape your kids mouths shut? scratch

xx

ava can clearly say mama and dada everything else is gobbledegook, the fact that he's saying other words is a good sign i would think.

haha i think its only illegal if they are already in a cage?!

hmm well he is letting go of stuff a lot now and just standing either looking pleased or just forgets he isn't holding on, and is pouncing at things now (sort of jumping rather than stepping Laughing) so i guess it will be walking before talking

i wonder if its true that girls tend to be more communicative? he definitely understands generally what is going on (generally as in, its bathtime affraid ,its food time, 'come on' etc) so im not too worried, i know i shouldn't read these stupid 'guides' on what your baby should be doing!
